There are no teams that have even close to their talent. Only way to even compete with these guys is to play 9-10 and EACH guy has to be good. Good as in each guy--kind of like some spurs teams has the ability to get 20 points play good D multi level scorers passers --the whole game. You need a team wide effort to help wear down these great teams because the singular talent is not going to be there.
That is why I say the Knicks need to stop wasting time on older players whose window coincides with that of the Cavs and Warriors. Develop young players for the next window of opportunity. I said this before there simply isn't enough talent in the league to compete with the Cavs and Warriors.

Nobody is beating Cavs-Warriors until Warriors are forced to trade Klay away. Curry will be around 33. We need to build for that 2019-2020 range to start make our name.

But I agree we need to be aiming at a future date for our team to be put together, assembled and competing, not because of who stands in our way, but in terms of when our talent is going to mature (KP, this year's picks, next year's picks).
Bottom line is these teams are going to dominate for awhile longer. They aren't going anywhere anytime soon. Knicks need to really hit the next couple of years in the draft, and get extra picks whenever possible. KP is still only 21. The teams that will win titles after Golden State and Cleveland are both done are the teams that do the best to develop their 19-22 year old talent right now. So 6 or 7 years down the road, when those players are in their prime years, they can challenge for a title. For example, in 7 years, KP will be 28 and this year's 8th pick would potentially be 26. Next years top pick would be 25. If all 3 develop into star players, and the supporting cast is good, that is what you are building for.

Actually I think the Spurs are better than the Cavs.
I was looking forward to a healthy SAS-GSW matchup. It was not to be.
GSW is a fine tuned talented machine who was built, then the proper schematic was applied to it.
Should one replicate that? Of course. On the other hand that Lebron fella sure gets his guys to the finals!!!
Many paths to success. I'd say Ainge and the celtics have the most compelling chess board at the moment.
Let's not overreact to one game. I do think the Warriors are extremely hard to beat because of Durant. He basically can take over a game when ever he wants at a level only Lebron James can. Durant is rested and took it easy while playing a role during the season. The only guy on the Cavs that can guard him is Lebron and they will just run screens to pick him off leaving Durant matched up on Love or whoever.
I'm in the 2019-2020 group.... we are building to compete then. We're not going to catch the Cavs and golden State for a couple seasons

Phil is pretty much admitting that he's looking long term. Trying to get more picks and trying to offload Melo. I think he's pretty clear eyed that he's going to be drafting for the next Prez more so than for himself. This is why KP and his team are so wrong headed. They're acting like the Knicks can contend next year or something! That's not realistic. This is going to be a process and not a quick fix type situation. KP needs to just buckle down and get his body and game right.

The Warriors are more easy to beat than the Cavs .. Kawhi Lenard showed that by not playing a small lineup and small rotation .... Last year when Durant was on OKC the GS vs OKC series were 3-1 in OKC favor from not playing small-ball, the next 3 games OKC played small-ball and loss all 3 games.
If the Cavs would have loss to GS in the FINALS last year i would have been saying FIX FIX FIX.
The ratings for the rematch of Cavs vs GS Warriors having Durant is probably 3 times higher than a Spurs vs Cavs in the FINALS .. so Kawhi sat out the rest of their series with GS.
