Knicks · What if Ball falls? (page 1)

EnySpree @ 6/5/2017 12:52 AM
Not saying he is going to fall to the Knicks, but his father, quickness and jump shot are all legit concerns....

If the Lakers pass on him, Philly, Phoenix, Sacramento and Orlando could also all go in a different direction. Fox, Jackson, Tatum, Smith, Monk could all be drafted before #8... even a guy like Lauri could get picked earlier. There's also Isaac. Stranger things have happened.... but if Ball did fall, would you even want to deal with the BBB machine?

If he falls he is not going to fall to eight. It wount affect us.

I wouldn't want him. Not with what we already have in terms of potential trouble with KP (e.g., skipping exit meeting), Melo (does he get traded) and whatever other discontent there is.

But, if I drafted him and I were the owner, I would have him sit for the first year, and let his dad know who exactly is in charge of 'brand opportunities'.

If Gaines says the kid can play ball, and passes his tests, you take him.
The KP Situation is not related. In fact, get a guy that can feed KP and make it a beautiful thing.
LaVar has two other sons to tend to. Also, this is not the first time a father is hovering over his kid. This is a bit more high profile situation than most because the guy is trying to hawk shoes in an unconventional way. Lavar is making outrageous statements to gain publicity.

My take is if he falls to the knicks because smaller markets don't want to deal with Lavar's potential noise that could be a nice benefit for us.
If he falls because of basketball reasons, then I'll defer to our scouts who I assume will vet him out.

If he falls that badly, I might steer clear as well. Sometimes league scouts are right. There is a reason why guys like Grant, Early and Lampe fall to us. Other teams figured out they weren't good. I'm hopeful Ball doesn't fall. This is one of the draft scenarios that worries me. I already have a number of questions concerning his game and his father is just the cherry on the top.

If we had the #1 pick, I think Phil drafts Ball. Perfect player for an offense like we run, pass first mind set and has a very high IQ.
He will never fall past 3.
Lakers are definitely taking him. It's a forgone conclusion at this point.

He is not going to fall. But, sometimes players slip under the radar. Hopefully this year we will have a little luck with a Dennis Smith Jr or Monk.

If he fell, Suns would take him at 4
