Every year there are a few guys who get drafted too high, and others drafted a little later who should have been much higher.
In 2015, we got a steal in KP, because he was clearly the 2nd best player after Towns. Right after him, a Hezonja was drafted. Ahead of him was Okafor, who has been less than stellar.
Anyway, here are mine potential "steal" picks vs "safe" vs "likely to disappoint"
Steal potential-
1) Isaac (Has great tools, great looking jumper, could be the biggest steal)
2) Ntilikina (Has great tools, if he learns how to be a guard he will be a good 2-way player)
3) Smith (If he avoids injuries could be as good as Fultz)
Safe picks-
1) Fultz (Likely all-star)
2) Jackson (Excellent all around player)
3) Monk(Likely 15 points a night scorer)
4) Lauri (Bigger better Ryan Anderson)
"Likely to disappoint"
1) Ball (Father has hyped him to be better than lebron, he could be Andre Miller 2.0 which is good but not great)
2) Tatum (Hyped to be a great player, but like many Duke stars, I think he will not meet expectations)
3) Fox (I get the feeling people will see he is too much like DRose and that is not a great thing in today's league)
So from my perspective, Knicks should draft either a "safe' pick or a "steal" pick.
If Knicks end up with a potential steal pick like Isaac, Ntilikina or Smith, I am all over that. I don't love Smith or Ntilikina but I see the upside there.
What about you guys? Who do you think are most likely to be "steals', "safe" or "disappoint"???

I would add Zach Collins as a safe pick as well. I like his ceiling better than Willy. Fans won't get excited if we pick him, but he is a long-term upgrade.

Zach has legit talent!
I disagree about Tatum and Fox. Tatum has prototypical size, length and enough athletic ability. On top of that Tatum has NBA Level skills. There's no way he busts. Josh Jackson has more bust potential than Tatum IMO.
Fox has too much Physical talent and heart to bust. What gets ignored is his ability to read the game. He doesn't really force things but knows when his team needs his to take over. That's a rare skill.
8th picks aren't steals. They are top 10 picks, so you have expectations for them or they bust out. I'm thinking Dotson at pick 44 has steal potential. Impressive skill set. I would love to see him light it up!
Fox a disappointment? Are you serious? Please tell me you're serious. You know he shot 40% from three if you're just taking in consideration his 10 games. He's miles better than DSJR
I think Zach Collins is underrated. He'll need a year to learn to stay out of foul trouble, but he's good on both sides of the court. He's got a good 3 pt shot, quick feet, good rebounder and shot blocker.

I'm not sure i look at players projected to go in the lottery as steals though. If i'm talking about players that could be steals then i'm looking at players that will get drafted in the mid to late 1st round and even the 2nd round that could end up being better or as good as players going in the lottery.
Frank Jackson
OG Anunoby
L.Kennard
Frank Mason
K.Kuzma
J.Bell
I see these kids and even others that could end up being better players then their draft position would show.
What do you guys think about Jaron Blossomgame?? We had him in for a workout and i really like this kid and think he could be a really nice piece to have and he plays both ends of the court.

Willy is a steal. Thats what we need more of.

Now that's a steal
Blossomgame could translate if he's quick enough to hang... he could be a Lance Thomas type for sure.
Do you feel strongly enough about him to trade Willy for the extra pick to get him? Or if it took one of the vets (lance, KOQ ,C Lee)

I wouldn't be upset if we took him 8. I prolly wouldn't push a Willy trade to get him, because...well...I'm not sure i'm ready to trust Phil with a move like that, yet.

Umm, Phil doesn't need your trust. He has 13 rings.

Yes. It might hurt us for the first year, but you're talking about a big with 3 pt range and inside skills. He has very quick feet and shows it when he has to switch and cover a guard.

Lol forgot about that. Mesmerizing effects of the rings must be wearing off...it's odd, but someone named Calderon keeps popping up in my minds eye along with some guy named Dallumbart or something like that...it's probably nothing.
