Knicks · Boston may trade #1 pick to Sacramento (page 1)

nyknickzingis @ 6/11/2017 1:01 PM
Kings working out Fultz.
If this is true, then Kings will trade 5, 10 and maybe more to Boston, for #1?

This can help in a Melo trade scenario to Boston.
With having more draft picks, Boston will have more pieces to offer.

ccinflushing @ 6/11/2017 1:16 PM
If that's the case, they might be trying to avoid the Darko problem like Detroit did as Moke Hamilton of Basketball Insiders highlighted in a recent article.

Sounds like a plan!!!

Boston gets Melo, Sactown gets the #1, Knicks get #5 & #10...

oh lawd let it be! make it so!!!

meloshouldgo @ 6/11/2017 1:22 PM
5could we not just trade Melo to them for the first pick and Crowder amd whatever else it would take? I think the Knicks asked for that trade before the deadline?
CrushAlot @ 6/11/2017 1:24 PM
I think Boston is more likely to use the picks to chase Butler or George. Both players make a lot more sense for the celtics.

Maybe sactown sprinkles in a player... it takes pressure off Boston to give up guys maybe? I'm gonna light a candle for this one

Boston doesn't want to deal with a rental. George could want to go to the Lakers still. That would suck to give up huge asset for a rental. The Lakers also could offer a younger package #pause

Is that sarcasm?

I think they try for Butler and obviously would want a commitment from George before they make a deal like that.

I've said it before that Jonathan Isaac makes the most sense for the Celtics. You don't need the no.1 overall pick to get him though and suspected that the Celtics wouls be more open than most to trade down. Isaacs after all, can grow at a position of need for them while being cheap enough to keep their core intact when they get their raises. Makes too much sense not to happen.

Even if they got George or Butler, what are they winning? They are no real contender, especially with a roster that small and Isiah Thomas at the helm.

I had heard the Kings were going to work out Fultz and then heard it wasn't going to happen. Did that change?

It would more likely be #10 & Crowder for Melo and they keep #5.

Then again at #5 & #10 they can land Tatum as a go to scorer and Marrkkanen. Probably even get WCS out of them.

Jmpasq @ 6/11/2017 3:25 PM
Thats what I would do, they can go after Hayward in FA. I see no reason to force the issue if im Boston you can be very competitive and build a core that peaks when Lebron starts to decline.

On a side note why would Boston trade any picks for Melo? He isnt a player thats in demand. We arent getting anything for melo thanks to the no trade clause. We will be lucky to get a middling first round pick. There isnt many teams that can absorb that salary, thats the problem. We might get a good asset back from the Lakers but we would have to take a horrendous contracts like Deng and Mozgov. If we do a deal with the CLippers we have to get unprotected picks like 4 years from now

Even 10 and Crowder is a stretch. Probably something like Zeller and 10 for Melo works.

Wait has their been any reports the Knicks get in on this deal or is all of this just "high hopes" cause I do think Bost to Sac town is likely. I don't see how the Knicks get any part of that action unless it's been reported they would.

I don't see Melo having value.

I'd love to get the #1 pick - but I think we'd have to go KP & 8 to do it - if Fultz is going to be that kind of franchise talent - you do it - I just think its too big of a gamble for us.

I think if Sac trades with Philly there is speculation that Philly might try to move one of the two picks with Okafor for 7 or 8. I believe Chad Ford talked about Sac/Philly doing a deal. Philly probably takes Monk at the 7/8 spot. Monk/Simmons would be a very interesting back court.

KP & 8? HELL NO!!! Fultz can play but let's not get carried away. Why would the Knicks weaken themselves when they can just keep the #8 and KP?

Also Melo may not be the best fit in NY but the guy is a much more potent scorer than any of the guys also being mentioned. Melo still has value. On a good team he won't have to stress the regular season and can save his energy for the playoffs. On a weaker team Melo is forced to try to do too much in the Regular season and burn himself out. Other GM's are aware of this type of situation and how they could use Melo.

I want to see this Boston / Sac trade go down to see the pieces exchange (If Boston gets #5 #10 and WCS too) .. Jalen Rose want out of Indiana after Larry Bird quit ..
fwk00 @ 6/11/2017 6:13 PM
Interesting trade rumor. Trading 1 for 5 and 10 and whatever does something very interesting for the Celts. It gives them the flexibility to stash a guy like Frankie overseas for a year or two because they're already loaded in the front-court. It also saves them money [aka cap-space]. who would the other guy be?.. Lauri M., a player whose size they need.

This is absolutely a Danny Ainge kind of move.
