Actually Melo could bring the rebounding that Love brings. Like i said, playing with Lebron makes players better team players and if Lebron tells him to focus on rebounding then i absolutely think Melo could average 10 boards a game. No doubt in my mind.

I would hope if we did do a Melo for Love trade that we would quickly turn around and send Love elsewhere for whatever draft picks and young players we could get.

I could see Melo's fg% going way up. What players had massive rebound increases when playing with LeBron?
Cavs need to move on from Tristan Thompson as well. He isn't a threat to score other then put backs and dunks. And he isn't dominant in the areas he does well in order to make up for it.

I can see a percentage point increase 44% not bad for Melo. He certainly won't put them over the top.
The deal to be made would be Celtics-Cavs-Knicks. Where Melo goes to the Cavs, Love goes to the Celtics and some picks come to the Knicks. How to make it work no idea.

Cleveland will likely try to do what Golden State did, keep their top 3 stars together and add a 4th star like Melo. That's what GST did with Durant, they kept Klay/Green/Thompson added Durant.
I think CLE keeps Lebron/Irving/Love and looks to add the best star they can.
Melo to the Cavs is a non-starter.
First, it would have already happened if it was ever to happen. In all likelihood Lebron will be on the move after next season.
Lebron is the kind of player who will alaways have one more run in his blood so the Cavs will make some wholesale changes this year but I doubt Melo would be in that equation.
Just based on the playoff performances, Thompson, Korver, Shumpert, and Frye are goners for younger pieces. The inexpensive pieces will likely get swapped out as well. JR still adds the kind of complementary firepower Lebron will need to compete. Who they chase is anyone's guess. Wouldn't surprise me if a D-League sharp-shooter or two aren't added. Given that LeBron worked Phil over in the JR/Shumpert deal, don't expect Phil to be giving any more handouts in that direction. If anything, Cle owes NY a solid. No one I've mentioned is worth trading for.
In many ways I could see the Cavs chasing Gallo.

That's what they have to try to do. It's beyond crazy to think that replacing Love with Melo makes the Cavs 25 points better (games 1 and 2) or that Kyrie can be a 35 PPG, 50% shooter (games 3 to 5) for a whole series.
melo to the cavs only happens if melo he's waived or brought out. Melo replacing love is not like KD replacing Harrison barnes.
The CAVs need better guard play other than inconsistent JR, no offense Shump, one dimensional korver and pass his prime deron williams..
shumpert should be completely embarrass about his shooting, he has all the tools 2 be a Sprewell type player, and he fckng sucks offensively
The guy is important to their defense, but he wasn't effective against State. So maybe they would be willing to now part with Tristan Thompson, something at deadline they were not.
I could see them eventually be willing to deal Tristan, future draft pick, in a deal for Melo,
Perhaps, this is a long shot, but maybe they would be willing to do a huge deal as follows.
Cleveland trades - Tristan, Frye, Shump, Felder.
New York trades - Melo, Noah
Cavs: Love/James/Melo/Smith/Irving starting 5 with Noah/Jefferson/free agents taking veteran min deals in their rotation. Noah would be useful in 10-15 minute bursts for a contender. Cavs will need to play smaller, more offense to beat Golden State next year. So I can see them go with Love/James/Melo/Smith/Irving lineup against them.
On our side, we keep Tristan, since he's a good asset and Felder. We re-direct Frye and Shump to Portland for their first round pick and Evan Turner.
We draft Justin Jackson with Portland's pick, Ntilikina at 8.

They definitely need more consistency and more of an offensive threat out of the 5 spot. If KG had signed with them I think they could've won. Since that didn't happen I don't know who is out there that can make them better than Golden State.

that's too much heavy lifting for phil. he'd have to work too hard to understand these moving parts.

Honestly, if I'm Cleveland I'd look into moving Kyrie.

exactly they need melo as an addition, not addition by subtracting, that's 2 steps forward 2 steps back, only lottery teams do that..
