even when they change--the same guy going to us is Monk.

I've noticed that too. It doesn't seem to jibe with media reports. Chad Ford has us taking Smith. Who knows? This is the stretch where the BS really begins to pile up in terms of reports from "team sources."

I would be just fine with Monk. An athletic guard that can shoot. Something we really need.
fishmike @ 6/16/2017 11:42 AM
I think its still based on projected order.

Lets face it... Monk brings a lot to the table, especially off the ball. Also he would join Baker/Lee who are two good defensive players.

nyknickzingis @ 6/16/2017 11:46 AM
He would be a really solid safe pick.
We know he has NBA level shooting ability. NBA level athleticism and speed.
His position is what is the main issue.
Could be a bit undersized for a 2, not really skilled enough in PG ability to be a point.
Monk will need to be an outstanding scorer at point and be matched up with a 2 guard that can play point.
Ironically we have that with Baker. Baker's a guard that can play 2, and does many PG qualities well in the Triangle.
If we trade Melo to the Clippers, Austin Rivers is another 2 guard that can match up well with Monk in the backcourt.

I would be happy with a talent like Monk at 8. There are so many question marks about some of the other picks. Too much could, maybe, potential. With Monk, there are a couple of things right away you could see him do at the NBA level and contribute. If he's a really hard worker, he could become an all-star scorer. Worst case, he's a 6th man type of instant offense guy off the bench. At worst, a top 6 player, at best a possible all-star.

If it's between Monk, DSJ and Nti (which I don't think it will be, I only see one of them on the board at 8) I would take Monk, Nti then DSJ in that order. Love Nti's defensive potential and youth, but too many times we've been screwed in the draft in Knicks history drafting where we are. Too many Balkman's, Sweetney's and those types.

Anyway, I'm excited about this team's future. We've got Willy and KP up front. We will likely have one of DSJ/Monk/Nti in the backcourt. We would have 3 core players with an average age of 20.5-21, all with 2 or less years of league experience. The Knicks wouldn't have had that kind of balance in young talent (A post big like Willy, unicorn like KP, a young guard) in a long time.

Whomever we take at 8, I just hope he fits in with KP/Willy and the future. The Knicks have a great chance on draft day to change the way this franchise will be for the next 8 to 10 years. Can't stress enough the importance of drafting a great fit next to KP/Willy. A guard is the right way to go, lets just hope it's the right guard. We all saw how DRose never fit in. DSJ has all the athletic tools and is an attack guard, but will he fit in? I lean towards Nti and Monk as fitting in better with a High IQ pass first guy like Baker or trading for Rubio to run the point.

One unexpected pick at the top of the draft could really throw a wrench in all these mock drafts. If there was ever a year for the draft to go in an unexpected way, its this one. Its deep, and teams have a lot of needs.

Pretty much everything any new york media people say is that Frank Nitty is at the top of the Knicks list and i agree.

well i think trading for rubio and picking monk is a nice back court

Basically mocks are assuming we will take the remaining elite-level guard. For awhile it has been either Monk or Smith. But either of them could also go as high as 3rd. Ntilikina has been long considered a notch below those 2 guys, but realistically, it seems like they are the 3 most realistic options.

If the Knicks don't get them they have a bunch of negative narratives to go with. They should have traded up, they should have lost more games, how could they pass up on Monk and Frenchy?...

The more I hear, and read, the more sure I am that Smith wont be there at 8 for the Knicks. I also think wants Monk unless Ball falls and moves #3 for 5 and 10 with Sac. If that happens I think Philly takes Monk at 5. Tatum could fall to 7,8. I also think there is a good chance Fox is there at 5 if Sac doesn't trade up.

I'm good with Monk. Super athlete quick can slash and a killer quick release on his J
