This is a team thats probably a good coach away from being the big kids in the yard. I'm not worried about Clevland.... Philly is going to be the team to bang with in 2-3 years... or sooner!
You speak like Embiid is a sure thing. Has there ever been a player with his injury history to become a star player later in his career? He's 23 years old and still only played 30 nba games.
The Knicks are way behind Philly as far as development....
But there are more than one way to do things. The Knicks need to be patient and build the way they are now. Between this draft and the next, there's opportunity to get some good young players. The Knicks will have to eventually make a trade and or a key free agent signing.
The Knicks currently don't have a starting point guard. They really don't have a starting shooting guard to take until the next few years either. They have 2 center prospects in KP and Willy, 3 if you count Plumlee is war.... no future at small fwd unless Kuz does something. No real power fwd prospect unless you still look at KP as a power fwd....
We have our work cut out for us, but thus summer we get to take a another crack at it. We'll get more young players sand hopefully more will start to stick.

I didn't speak on Embiid.... I simply mentioned all of their young core.... you have an issue with the guys health. I'm looking at the potential of that team going forward.
If I'm Philly I think I play Holmes as the starting PF and bring Saric off the bench to stabilize their defense to start the game. Let Dario come off the bench so he can play more time with the 2s and be the focal point for that squad to run the offense through.
I think Milwaukee is the team that NY will have problems with in the future. I do think they made some bad choices last summer that may hurt them but if they get a couple more pieces while Brogdon and Maker develop they'll take another huge leap.
I believe in the Bucks more than the Sixers at this point. Philly has some big names but they've got to put it all together. The Bucks have a clear identity developing. Philly is a blank slate in terms of how they'll all fit together. Philly looks right on paper for sure.
Convenient to ignore the Celtics but they have a pick, a war chest and a star guard for a sign and trade ... if Haywood comes to Boston and Jackson, then they will trade Avery B for # 7 and maybe grab Lauri M. They have loads of picks and a super Coach as well.

Agree about Boston. They have so many future assets and they already have a solid team. I think Philly will eventually put it together. Bucks also but not as much as the other two
I'm not feeling Philly. I don't see a vision, identity and possibly chemistry

Well what i meant is your assumption that this group is probably the "big kids in the yard" indicates you expect a healthy Embiid, and if that happens, it's completely unprecedented. Maybe it happens, but is there an example of a player who played this few games over a 3 year period and then grew to stardom?

Disagree...Simmons is a Lebron like player who will probably play point forward and at his peek, can average a near triple double. Fultz is a scoring guard and can play off the ball similar to Kyrie and he also has the ability to run the point in spurts...Embid and Saric will hold down the Center and PF spots....Not sure why you are not seeing that this team has a really good core moving forward.

I'm not going to speak up for a rival team. I'm just commenting on potential. Ben Simmons hasn't played yet. Fultz either... the potential of this team isn't solely on Embiids shoulders. I named 11 players dude

Our development depends a great deal on whether Kristaps is going to be a good, very good or great player in the league.
Right now he's hovering between good and very good.
He has potential to be great.
If he reaches that potential, the Knicks will be set. Because once you have THAT guy you can build your team around, all the rest falls in place much smoother and easier in most cases. There are exceptions to that rule, but that is usually when management is really inept.
For me Philadelphia has the potential to also have a player like that with Embiid, Simmons, Fultz. However as of today, none of them have shown that they are even going to be healthy, great players in the league. Until they play 60+ games and show very good play, I'm not impressed.
I think the Wolves have better talent. They've been surprise in that they lose as much as they did. They have Towns, Wiggins, LaVine, Rubio. The kid they drafted last year in the lottery. Another 7th pick right now. They have all the pieces to make trades and be in a great spot in 1-2 years. And they have THAT guy with KAT to build around. I like their team and situation much more than the Sixers. Towns is better than any player the Sixers have and is only 22. They can build a great team around him. Wiggins is the next DeRozan. All they need is a point guard like Kyle Lowry or some veteran point that can make it all click. They're going to get there and be a force.

You might be right. I see a collection of college all-stars who despite immense talent didn't win (Simmons and Fultz) and others who seem chronically injured (Embid, Okafor?, Noel when he was there)
It will be very interesting to see unfold. Best case scenario for them is as you predict; worse case is "same ol sixers"

Health is a big issue for this group moving forward...If they can stay healthy, they have the potential to be a top 3 team in the east for yrs to come...

they have a great back court with Wall and Beal
Otto and Oubre both look solid on the wing
as a team they're very competitive, tough and young. They play D!
And most important they still have room to improve at Center (scrappy but otherwise weak point) and at PF (morris is good; they at least need more depth there and you could do better than Morris). They don't need stars there -- just more contribution, toughness and defense.
