Knicks · Dwight Howard traded to Hornets (page 1)

Traded for Belinelli and Plumlee. Howard a type centers are getting phased out.
EnySpree @ 6/20/2017 9:26 PM
I dunno about that, but that is a trash trade. If the Knicks got that type of deal for Melo the media would be dropping fire balls all over msg
yellowboy90 @ 6/20/2017 9:36 PM
Great deal for the Hornets. They even move up 10 spots from 41 to 31
BigDaddyG @ 6/20/2017 10:04 PM
Dwight can't even go back...SMH. he needs to follow Starbur 's example and go to China. Change the narrative.

The Hawks will send Howard and the 31st pick in the 2017 NBA draft to the Hornets for center Miles Plumlee, guard Marco Belinelli and the 41st pick in the draft, league sources said.

Crazy! I wonder if the Cavs could have gotten him.
meloshouldgo @ 6/21/2017 6:32 AM
It's the Hornets that are crazy to think they are getting value out of this.

They moved up in the draft and they basically got Dwight Howard for $3 mil over the 2 seasons (the price difference in the contracts).

The price difference in the contracts? C'mon man you can do better. They are still going to have to pay the base price of the contracts they traded to Dwight and they still won't get the production from the two players they traded. Instead they'll get a bunch of mid season drama.

Those two players give almost no production. What do you mean the base price? I'm not sure if I missed something. I think they traded away 44 mil and took back 47 mil. Even if Dwight declines a little, he's still way better than the other two players.

I like that trade for Charlotte. Dwight's rebounding and per 100 #s aren't bad at all.

I didn't follow them, but I thought he focused better on playing and there was no drama.

16 points, 15 rbs per 36 min too. I don't get the trade from Atlanta's perspective. It's not clear this was even better than waiving Dwight and keeping their draft pick (though I'm not saying they should have done that either). I don't know if there was something terrible about Dwight's character behind the scenes? I can't believe they couldn't even just get expiring contracts and keep their picks.

How about we trade Melo for Batum and their 1st rounder(s)?

I bet they might go for it. Saves them a huge amount of money.

Batum is an awful contract, but is younger and with a pick or two this year, instantly helps us build up our depth.

Might be the best/only trade out there.

Unreal.

You are right. I had my Plumlees confused. Howard does still double-double on average but it's still not worth 47 million.

Base price - I meant the 44 million, your original quote made it sound like they would only pay 3 mill to DH or I read it wrong.
