And yet when we had cap space for the first time in like 12 yrs under Walsh. We had to give Amare 100mil to come. We used to get used by every potential FA to up their market price. Players interest in NY wasnt to come to NY to win first and foremost. But to increasee their brand and enjoy the city life. Rasheed Wallace was the only player willing to take less to come to NY until Detroit stole him from us.
We have been in dysfunction since the Isiah years....the problem is Phil came here with the promise of creating a professional/winning culture. Instead its just as bad, perception wise, if not worse. Its ironic because before Phil was hired, he used to take digs at the franchise from a afar because of our previous dysfunction, and who can forget, calling our roster clumsy...
Seems to me the only way for Phil to not look dysfunctional is to let his players do what ever they want so they are happy. And allow media wigs all the access possible to boost their careers and earnings. Or they will sabotage in order to get what they want which only benifits them and mot the Knicks.
Exaggerate much? First and foremost, for Phil not to look dysfunctional, how about we win some games...80-166 gets you fired by most owners not named Dolan.
And how do you win games in this league. Defense, ball movement, spacing. Yet when he calls out players for lack of ball movement he is picking on them and not treating them right.

jackson isnt the coach though. if jeff has any respect/pull with the players, let him be the guy saying stuff in front of the media.

The biggest factor is talent. The teams with the most roster turnover statistically have been in the bottom of the league standings. Coaching turnover is another big factor.
Who has Phil called out where he was accused of 'picking on the player'?

Notice you left out Talent! Phil turned over the roster 3x's in hopes of getting into the playoffs and compiled an 80-166 record. Melo had the label of ball stopper since he was in Denver, and someone as smart as phil should know that "a leopard doesn't change his spot", yet phil, being the genius he is, re-signs Melo and compounds that by handing him the balls to the franchise in the form of a NTC
. Then phil drags Melo in media through his dumb tweets and hangs Melo out to dry at his locker with mics in his face while phil refuses to talk to the media to clear the air after he promised to be more open with the media when the season began.
No need to call players out in tweets, do it behind the scenes. Better yet, let the COACH do it in practice. As for the lack of defense and spacing, well, phil picked all of these players....But, its not his fault...

This is true. But stuff like that only matters to weak minded coaches and players. And for all we know it was said in order to back Hornacek.

They had 6 rookies, 5 undrafted and one that was a second round pick. After they waived Jennings they had only 5 players on the team that were first round picks. The Knicks did not have as much talent as the Pacers. The Knicks brought in 10 new players last year and a new coach.

And who was the brilliant mastermind behind this roster?

Add to this, Noah injured all year (phil signed him knowing this) and Rose was a health risk when we brought him in and of course, he injures himself before seasons end. And, we tweaked our offense mid-way through the year confusing most of the players...Pacers were clearly more talented...

Why go this route when comparing. Willy a 2nd round rookie put up similar numbers to 13 year veteran Al Jefferson. Kuz(27yr old undrafted rookie) who got the 9th most total mins on the Knicks put up the same numbers as 9 year veteran Aron Brooks who had the 9th most mins total on the Pacers. Willy as the 7th most in total mins for the Knicks out played Glenn Robinson who had the 7th most mins on the Pacers. KOQ who had the 8th most in total mins on the Knicks out played Al Jefferson who had the 8th most in total mins on the Pacers.
George, Teague, Turner, Young, Ellis, Miles, Robinson, Jefferson, Brooks, Allen got the bulk of the mins for the Pacers.
Melo, Rose, Porzingis, Lee, Holiday, Jennings, Willy, KOQ, Kuz, Noah, Lance, Baker got the bulk of the mins for the Knicks.
Knicks have more players due to injuries to Noah & Lance pushing up Willy & Kuz mins. As well as us going into tank mode releasing Jennings and shutting down Rose increasing Bakers mins.
Pacers just didn't have anyone of there main talent get injured. But even if we don't count Noah as a contributor. The talent is very much comparable. Their top line talent got it done. Our top line talent didn't.
