Phil has been TRYING to get KP to talk and patch things up. WTH is wrong with KP and Janis that they don't realize this is wrong... EXCEPT if Janis and ASM Sports WANTS Phil to trade KP!!!

I agree. KP reacted to a bad situation but he is 21. Phil is still seeking payback two months later and he is willing to move his best player to get it. Phil is managing based on feelings/ego. It will only hurt the Knicks.
Any other job KP would be let go...I forgot who said this several mths ago....but if it was not for Phil taking a chance KP would have been playing for ORL....Phil is burned and I do not blame him...
No he would not. You don't fire a probable shining star over first time immaturity issues. Punish? Yes, definitely. Fire? No. Most companies are more lenient than that.
A player who shines but has not done anything in the league yet....if my asst pulled that type of crap and (key phrase coming here) ...did not makes amends after I extended a hand...I don't give a crap if they *hit gold bricks...I am getting rid of them....
Can't have that type of insubordination
18 points, 7 rebounds, 2 blocks a game is not "not done anything."
I say this and I am very critical of his game. He has a ton of improvement to make. Those are impressive numbers and a great start though.

Has he? I know Jeff texted KP. My impression was Phil is waiting on KP to call him. Is there a link documenting Phil's attempts?

look we both agree phil had made many errors since he has been her but you make it seem like literally everything is on him. It Seems KP went AWOL without contacting the knicks because of his idiot brother who KP should probably fire for his own good

No question....but even Kobe never pulled this type of crap....
We are talking about a 2nd yr player here....a budding star indeed ....but there is a lot to be fulfilled....he is not the man yet

BULL! Phil is not the one in the wrong here! Phil says he called and texted and we know Phil met with Janis. Janis keeps saying KP wants NY but IMO that's empty posturing to make KP look good. The TRUTH is they met with Phil and no progress was made ASM Sports is trying to get Phil to trade KP!!!
That's the only logical conclusion to why KP did this and hasn't mended fences.

No he is not but it is still a players league, as it should be.
And Kobe might not have done THAT but I think his reputation is a lot worse than this incident.

Phil said he called and texted KP? Nix you always have links. I consume as much media as I can about the Knicks. I haven't read or heard anywhere that Phil called or texted KP. Is there a link?

He said it during the interview: He said he's reached out to KP and communicated but he hasn't had any voice communication, although he's tried--meaning he's been calling KP and being ignored. Not cool if true.

I dont know, its fd up , Many here seem to dismiss KP's behavior. This is a terrible look for a 2nd year player and it will only get worse, Melo has poisoned this kid. Porzingis is a super diva without the game to back it up
Isaac or Jackson
Willy
Crowder
Ntilikina
Lee or if we trade him Mitchell or Kennard
2 #1’s next year (could both be lottery)
Plus whatever we get for Melo
Not bad if it happens.

Thats some poison, Melo managed to make the meeting. Probably wasn't a smart thing to skip the exit meeting considering Phil's ego, but it was entirely KP's call. Melo took the high road all season while being constantly peppered with questions about what Phil said about him. Nothing poisonous about that.
How would posters feel if Rose is brought back next season in spite of making no effort to form some kind of a tandem with KP, goes AWOL during the season, gets a pass, and is given a new deal. At the same time the best draft pick in 30 years is traded because he skipped the exit meeting? Does that sound like a culture change to you?

Phil is seeking payback? Really that's why you think is going on? How about nobody is above the team. Kristaps is trying to strong arm the Knicks and he can't stay healthy and he can't carry the team offensuvely yet.

different situation. Shaq missed it but made up for it 2 weeks later but phil was still upset but they moved past it. KP could have easily done this. The second time phil was retiring which shaq knew im sure

One BIG Difference! Shaq apologized and had his meeting!
Shaquille O'Neal intends to sit down with Laker management next week for an exit meeting more than two weeks late, a team official said Friday. When the Laker season ended abruptly May 15, in the Western Conference semifinals after three consecutive NBA championships, players were asked to attend brief conferences with Coach Phil Jackson and his staff.
O'Neal did not sign up for a time slot and did not show up on the day of the meetings, May 17. Jackson labeled O'Neal's absence "disrespectful."
O'Neal remains in Los Angeles, however, and has sent word that Jackson should expect him next week, on a day not yet specified.
The Laker center had said Thursday night that he was wrong to skip the season-ending meeting and that he hoped to remedy his error.
"I didn't go to the meeting and I'll take the punishment like a man," O'Neal told Fox Sports Net during an affair celebrating his involvement with the Port Authority police. "I don't make excuses and I'll never talk back. I'll never embarrass Phil. I messed up and when I mess up, I'll always clean up."

He missed twice and it really upset Phil according to the quote from Phil. Doesnt sound like something that just slipped his mind.

Phil said this never happened in his 25-30 years coaching. Are you suggesting he forgot? His quotes in the article make it appear that this really upset him.
