If Frank N. is the star the Knicks supposedly think h e could be in the future, this would make the Knicks look horrible for so many reasons.
I think wolves want to draft markanen and feel that he'll be around at 9. Mavs want frank b4 knicks can take him. Knicks decided to start all of these KP trade rumors because then if they trade KP they very well might draft Markenen at 8 and therefore wolves wouldnt get him at 9. This is all a ploy to keep the mavs from stealing frank from the knicks.

The Mavericks and Timberwolves reportedly discussed a trade involving Wes Matthews and the No. 9 pick for Ricky Rubio and the No. 7 pick, but those talks are now "dead."
"Dallas does not feel urgency to move up from No. 9," according to ESPN's Tim MacMahon.
