Knicks already have the 8th pick.

It's 2 to 1, not 3.

It'd be 3 & 5 vs. KP.

They already have KP & 8.

ummm ok
i want to say let him carry his latvian ass but i like the kid, but damn thats a haul, especially if we get to keep all of our picks this and next year

while that's a huge quantity of assets, KP will likely far and away be the best player in the deal. He's viewed as Dirk 2.0. There's a reason that Ainge, the guy who stockpiles picks like his life depends upon it, is willing to entertain trade discussions with us, despite Phil's incredibly high asking price

You may be right. But if you get 2 all-stars out of it plus another good piece that would probably speed up the rebuild. Plus we have our own pick which should be a good player. I'm not saying I want it to happen but it would be a bigtime haul for a 2nd year player

we need so much at a certain point it would be insane not to say yes. but I do feel compelled to remind people that KP will likely be the best player in any deal, by a mile, and the players that get drafted will hold far less value than the pick... Brian Windhorst said something like "first round picks are like new cars--their value plummets the second you drive it off the lot" a month or so ago. I agree. Barring injury, the Knicks will get great value for KP whenever they trade him. If we trade with Boston, once we draft all these guys, we wouldn't be able to trade them for KP or equivalent. Not to mention, there is always the risk that we strike out on a pick

for the reasons you state, we shouldn't do the deal

Listen, guys like Lebron, Steph, KD, Harden even Melo -- they don't come around every year. KP and KAT are the two most likely candidates to attain that status in the last few drafts. We should keep KP for that reason

The draft picks could turn into Oladipo, DeAngelo, Okafor or any number of other picks who sounded sexy but left fans and teammates unsatisfied.

Phil should resist the temptation. Having said that, if he and Gaines think there are real gems in this class and if does trade him then he should get a boatload in return

Nalod @ 6/22/2017 4:12 PM
Damn, some of that sounds good. Too good. This is where we get excited, it don't happen, then find out Phil forgot to charge his phone?
Ok, I'll take all that and throw in melo for good measure.

only downside is having KP in the division and being a terror on Knicks for next 12 years. But, its the kind of deal that really can reset this franchise with solid talent.
With KP he is one injury away from team being a nightmare.

You heard it here first, we'll be giving up a future pick in the process. Danny don't go away happy unless he has a pick stashed from us.
and for you too young to remember Danny and hate phil, well phuck that!!! Danny was a a perfect pouching celtic asshole!!!! I don't care, put a suit on him he is still a dick.

I implied when I said with 8 meaning I know knicks already have that. KP is not Durant, Lebron Steph, or Harden. This is a great opportunity to start moving forward.

mlby1215 @ 6/22/2017 4:16 PM
The problem is that no one can be sure we can keep KP. The threat from his brother is real. He said KP will not resign if he got traded. Actually, it also means KP may not resign with Knicks when the time is up. The risk is losing him for nothing. If a guy is willing to give up money to "regain" his freedom, why wouldn't he do the same here in the future? When Phil said it is for the good of the club, I think he meant this.

All I'm saying is in this case 3 doesn't outweigh 1, 3 outweighs 2.

...And to balance things out...no potential pick in this draft is ANYTHING right now.

And none of us know what KP's ceiling is at this point...just as we did not know what the ceilings for Curry and Harden were...did we?

Hoarded assets don't make an impact to games until realized. Ainge saves them for just in case something like this comes available. Good move by Ainge and a good move by Phil for drafting the right player that can help get assets for a rebuild.

I agree with this. But what's the best case with these picks? A potential face of the franchise, who is 21 y/o, and a future star? isn't that what we'd be giving up?

Potential future star/franchise for two potential starters and potential star as well. Welcome to brand new concept for knicks fans - SELLING HIGH

Dave McMenamin: Source familiar with the talks between Knicks and Celtics told ESPN that New York’s demands for Kristaps Porzingis are “ridiculous.” Also the source gives the sense that Boston will likely keep its No. 3 pick to draft a player and not trade down again.

As it should be. The only way the Knicks should consider trading KP is if they get a king's ransom in return. Fun to think about drafting 3 lottery picks tonight, but much safer to just put KP and Phil in couples counseling.

newyorknewyork @ 6/22/2017 4:57 PM
Boston probably has Hayward in the bag. Want to come away with KP and Hawyard this off season.

If the deal did get done. I pray Phil doesnt draft Markkenen with #8. He doesnt offer much defensive potential. If they get 2 top 7 pick. I am guessing Crowder is the player coming back. Take Isaac at 3. Smith with the other pick and Frank with 8. Still want Bolden too later in the draft.

Nah, He's taking Jackson over Issac. Don't think he is picking Smith and Frankie.

Isaac would be a better fit with Crowder. But you are probably right. Smith and Frank are best of both worlds. Frank and Jackson on the perimeter would be a strong foundation. Smith attacking scoring style balances with Frank pass first style. A lot of multi dimensional skills amoung them. With strong defense capabilities. Bolden would be a great add to that group at PF.

Knicks source on Phil right now: "he's dug in. If he doesn't get exactly what he wants, there will be no (Porzingis) trade."

Oh my god, he's out of touch and a laughingstock with his crazy demands.

No wait... if he gets anything less than a king's ransom he'll be a laughingstock.

No wait... if he even entertains a trade he's a laughingstock.

Arrgh, I can't keep track.

It's so funny. Knicks can't lose since they already have KP and #8. If there's no deal we just continue with the draft and maybe a move for another pick.

reub @ 6/22/2017 6:46 PM
If we trade both KP and Melo can't they just give us the first 10 picks in the draft?
BRIGGS @ 6/22/2017 7:06 PM
We have a chance to get much more athletic and were going to regret it
