You might as well delete the "truth is somewhere in the middle" options, they're just bailouts. The truth is always somewhere in the middle.
It's all about managing your assets. Everything else is manufactured drama to either drive clicks, sell newspapers, or further an agenda.

I second that. What has me perturbed is the constant back and forth in the media. Before you known it, I'll be screaming "fake news" with everybody else. If it's a trade, let it be that. Not a pissing contest. Let's get it together
Funny that on this site before the Celts/Philly trade, I was saying we should look to move KP for the top pick. It seemed like most were against the idea.
now Phil is upset with KP and looking to trade him - folks have warmed up to the idea.
If we're trading KP because he won't return Phil's texts, then Phil needs to be fired because the one thing Phil could point to as a success was drafting KP- and it turns out Phil drafted the wrong player.

nobody is warming up to it. In fact most don't want it to happen. the only way we could accept it is if we get 2 lotto picks plus something else
I think dealing KP for any reason is kinda dumb. Both player (KP) and exec (PhilJax) are acting immaturely. But KP could be a HOF player. These other lotto picks are less likely to be.
When has Phil ever capitalized on an asset?

Well considering what we are hearing getting two lotto picks plus another good piece is a pretty damn good haul for a 2 year player and I'm a big KP fan

He has at the _least_ conserved our assets - we have all our future picks. That in itself is a fundamental, franchise-altering approach to club building that will benefit us for years to come.
If we get two lotto picks and a decent prospect for KP, we should pull trigger. Think about this, you develop these young guys for three years, plus we draft high next year, in 2019, we have max cap room with Melo's deal expiring, we could build a very solid team from the ground up in two seasons.
16-5 in favor of the haul and the tack Phil is taking.
