Knicks · the smoke has cleared (page 1)
we end up with two point guards #8 frank nitty and #58 ognjen jamaraz ( say that 6 times really fast) a shooting guard #44 damyean dotson( i just realized thats damien lol) and center luke kornet.
so now what?

i say still go head and trade melo but seems we cant get jack for him.
The New York Knicks did not trade Kristaps Porzingis.
GRADE: A+
si.com:Round 1, Pick 8 (No. 8 overall): Frank Ntilikina, PG, France
There was a lot of talk about the Knicks’ affection for Ntilikina, who’s considered the top overseas prospect in this draft and now the highest-drafted French player in league history. New York needed to address its backcourt and did so here, although high-scoring and arguably stronger options Dennis Smith and Malik Monk were available. The Knicks have had a strong run drafting internationally in recent years, so they’ve earned a bit of trust, but the 18-year-old Ntilikina has a long way to go and will face a lot of pressure immediately. At the very least, fans can take solace in the fact Kristaps Porzingis appears to be staying put. — Jeremy Woo
GRADE: B
Round 2, Pick 14 (No. 44 overall): Damyean Dotson, SG, Houston
cbssports.com:New York Knicks
Scouting report
With some patience Ntilikina could end up as one of the top-tier players in this draft. But don't expect it to happen immediately. Adding strength will be key, as well as a more consistent shot.
Reid Forgrave's draft grade: B
Incredible perimeter defender. Great floor general. Can he develop into a scorer?
Some think that Ntilinkina would have been a top-five pick if he had played at an American college. A long and athletic 6-foot-5, point guard, he'll give the Knicks a young piece to put alongside Kristaps Porzingis (if they don't trade him) as New York plans for the future.
bleacherreport.com:Frank Ntilikina may have spent his youth hanging from a pull-up bar rather than using that piece of workout equipment in its intended fashion. That’s the only (non-scientific) explanation for his ginormous wingspan (7’1”), which sits nine inches greater than that of a typical NBA point guard, on par with an average center and greater than the wingspan with which LeBron James entered the league (7’0.25”), per HoopsHype.com.
The Frenchman is certainly a raw product. His handles aren’t remarkably tight, and he struggles to create his own looks from the perimeter. For that matter, his spot-up jumpers aren’t much better.
But the New York Knicks are going for upside here, and he possesses that in spades. Right away, he should be a vastly superior defender to Derrick Rose and make life easier for the interior defenders patrolling Madison Square Garden. The length even gives him the ability to switch onto multiple positions, which is invaluable in a league that now has so many 3s initiating pick-and-roll action.
They just have to be patient now. If they are, this could be a home run, even if it’s a risky selection inside the top 10.
Grade: B+
foxsports.com: New York Knicks: A-
Picks: Frank Ntilikina (8), Damyean Dotson (44), Ognjen Jaramaz (58)
Phil Jackson's problem isn't finding players in the draft; it's not alienating those prospects once they start to turn into stars.
Frank the Tank is a great pick for the Knicks, although New York could regret passing on Dennis Smith, Jr. and Malik Monk.

Who the hell is going to score for this team next season when Melo is gone. Frank is a nice glue piece the problem is the Knicks have nothing for him to stick to. Maybe they should resign Rose because I have no idea where the points are coming from next season

Haven't you heard? Basketball isn't about scoring points. It's about draft night.

We need another lottery pick and now we setup for this nicely.
Especially if Melo will go get his buckets somewhere else.
If we cut him we can get top 5 next year easy.
KP can grow into a man another year without pressure to win.
Or if he will get frustrated we will have huge asset to get veteran star to compliment young players.
Building a good team is long and twisted process.
There is a bunch of young talent on the team and they all fit a mold. Team first players.
The next move is to dump Melo. WHen the ball moves, the offense is fine. For all of Melo's "scoring" NY still could not score last year. You mostly need a guy who can get off his shot at the end of a game. KP will need to learn that role. at 7'3" He should be fine.
The Frenchman is certainly a raw product. His handles aren’t remarkably tight, and he struggles to create his own looks from the perimeter. For that matter, his spot-up jumpers aren’t much better.
I get the feeling that Phil could have traded down a few spots and still picked Frank. If he turns out to be the real deal, then it wont matter. Ntilinka will have a lot on his plate next season.
I hope Baker comes back. I'll bet he'll be able to do a better job of helping Frank with the Triangle learning curve than the coaches. Please dont bring Rose back!

do you honestly think Mavs wouldn't have picked him, or is this just another opportunity to bash a senile old man

Mavs hired his coach for their summerleague team. Why do that if you don't want to get in good with the player? They wanted him bad, and are trying to sell Smith. Good for them though, it is a smart thing to do.

Looks that way, and for $60 million dollars, the worst record in Knicks franchise history as an exec, he doesn't deserve to be so fiercely protected the way he is by some, not necessarily you. Year 4, no more excuses.
atta boy phil.
now make Kristaps happy.
The goal should be to get really improve defensively and not have to rely so much on scoring. That seems to be the calculation. Passing on Monk and DSJ pretty much tells you they want to focus on D as Phil said he was looking for a great On Ball Defender. Of course one draft wasn't going to solve all the problems but this was a solid building effort. The gap still is pretty big so let's hope for other moves.

Why is that important. You hankering for a lower lottery selection?

I think his harshest critics should consider picking up the stupid, inconsequential shit just distracts and undermines from the legitimate stuff.
So year 4. We already have a decent idea of what the team will be. So excuses aside, what are your expectations?

That is my main gripe with taking Frank @ 8. If the Knicks were locked in on him, it would have been nice if they traded back for an asset and drafted him a few picks later. Honestly, I don't see too much of a difference in skill level between Frank and Hart and he was the last pick in the 1st round. It is what it is, hopefully Frank develops into a good player. Its all about the front of the jersey.

fair enough.
But pretty much everyone else even remotely tuned into the NBA did.

If it has to do with his responsibilities as an exec then no, its not inconsequential. Its stupid to believe otherwise. Stupid to be trying to play hall monitor, leave that to the Mods.

I agree, I would really like to know what input Gaines had in this decision. Would have thought that he would want Smith jr. If it turns out he was the one pushing for Frank, then I will feel better. I hope he surprises everyone. Hope Frank and KP click, Im sure it will be a more productive relationship than with KP and Rose.

What we know for a fact is some people here really wanted to buy into the worse version of it happening.
Stupid to be trying to play hall monitor, leave that to the Mods.
I'm responding to what some people argue is a issue relevant to the team.
Also asked what fair expectations are for the team in 2017-18.

there are 2 type of players phil will draft
1)a senior in college-
2)a international player
he like high IQ players, not the AAU types
No surprise about who we picked,
