The silver lining of taking a player like Frank over Dennis Smith Jr. or Monk is that we won't have any 30 point games to worry about that steal a few wins. If the Knicks dump Melo I fully expect the Knicks to be one of the worst offensive teams in the NBA. Good chance they average under a 100 points a game. Take Melo and Rose off this roster and add some journeymen bums I fully expect a 15-20 win season next year which should place us in line for what we desperately need, the number 1 pick. The rush starts now to acquire as many young players as we can before Porzingis hits Free Agency. I still think the Knicks should of taken less for Porzingis "2 lottery picks" and hit the reset button. The losing thats going to go on here the next few years may further sour him on NY. I also worry about him staying healthy. While I dont like the Frank pick at least he provides us with some perimeter defense that will hide the slow footed Euro tandem up front. Hopefully we get the wing like "Jackson" we could of grabbed this season next year, and we can finally be delivered from this hell called Knicks basketball

Last two times the Knicks were in the lottery, we fell from where we were supposed to be given our place in the standings. Have more faith in the Knicks drafting a sleeper pick than getting the first pick, haven't been close to that lucky.

I know because Melo said so repeatedly in interviews. They kept asking him if Phil had ever said anything in private about his game before Phil said it in public and he said "No" and that he wished he had. Phil said that Melo wanted a line of communication with him, wanted to keep in regular contact, that it was important to him. Dont believe the interest was mutual.
I dont believe he is lying, he looked genuinely surprised that Phil put their business out there like that. No other exec talks that way about their star player, at least not in public. Would have been much better off keeping it in house like every other exec. Especially those with winning records.

You don't think in phil's 4 years here he's ever sat down with melo to talk about his game? That's almost impossible for me to believe. I remember when phil first came here he talked all the time about how he was going to turn melo into Kobe or Jordan, so one would have to think during that time period he was discussing with melo the ways he thought melo could improve his game.
I think what Melo was talking about in his interviews is that he wished phil would have sat down with him again before going to the media. Maybe phil never explicitly called Carmelo a ballstopper in his talks with him, but I don't think the things he said to the media just came out of the blue.

Yeah the Knicks actually look more solid going into next year than some teams. They won 31 this year but it's more possible they win more next season not less. The main issue was defense and I think they will not be as bad defensively. Even a small improvement would help.
