2018, 2020, 2022 draft picks for Lamarcus Aldridge thats where we are headed
Uptown wrote:smackeddog wrote:Now we're stuck with melo for 2 years- should help keep us from landing a top pick by adding 4 or so wins to our record each year and insuring our defense stinks
We were stuck with him regardless, thanks to phil...Why don't you guys acknowledge this?!
This is a catch 22. The biggest problem Phil has had with melo is that he can't discipline him since Melo has Dolans ear.
So instead of putting us in position to trade him he mailed in it in with bad play and a team killing attitude. What does he care? Phil can't punish him or even reprimand him in public without being painted as the problem himself.
nyknickzingis wrote:Uptown wrote:nyknickzingis wrote:Melo's powerplay was with KP.
He convinced KP Phil was a problem.
KP did the actual power play by not showing up to camp and challenging Phil.I'm just afraid at the future tone this sets for KP.
He's already played a Lebron James like star move.
What if he actually becomes an all-star?
Will he dictate everything or push for a move anytime something goes wrong?
I don't know. We should have traded Melo, and the future is brighter without Melo than it is with him.
KP we should definitely be keeping him along with Willy and Nti.
BS! Where's the proof?! Why can't we accept that KP acted on his own with the help of his team (brothers)?
Oh, I believe completely KP is to blame and made his own move, but Melo was part of that for sure.
He and Melo are boys. After Phil talked about Melo in the post-season PC, Melo made a comment that KP right away liked.
The two of them definitely made this move together.I don't even have a problem with it, because Phil dug his own grave by shopping Porzingis. Not many owners will let you do that. If it's down to KP vs Phil, KP wins every time. I don't think Phil was actually going to trade Porzingis though.
what comment did he make to KP? Was this reported on? If they made a pact, why did Melo attend the exit Meetings and KP didn't?
And I totally agree that phil dug his own grave...In fact, the only reason he came here was for the money...Dolan said as much whit was reported that he had to up the money and give phil provisions just to convince him to take the job!
At the end, I cannot blame Melo. Dolan empowered him.
There is a way to play Basketball and there is a way to manage it. Phil may or may not be the right guy to do it but what he was trying to do is right. And now everything has come to an end.

The writing is on the wall.
Melo was always a leader to KP.
Look how melo has treated management. The attitude he's had towards their direction.
Then look at where kps behavior evolved to.
Put 2 and 2 together.
I been put 2 and 2 together...you are syniko (sp) and you joined during the height of linsanity...you would create numerous threads calling Melo juvenile names like fat Melo, etc...you blamed Melo for Lins departure and you haven't let it go...its clear you have an agenda and biased view.
Is it really that hard to believe there's multiple people out there who are sick of fat, lazy, bad attitude, 32 year old Melo?

I have to agree. Melo beat Phil.
I have always thought that the re-signing of Melo and the NTC was all Dolan. Phil would have never done that as he KNOWS that Melo is a loser and can only play the game one way, and that is selfishly.
The mistake Phil made was letting it happen and not walking out right tnen.
This team will never be good while Dolan owns them because he is too stupid to let it grow the rigth way.
What a joke. More Embarrassment. After a very good draft too.
THis is bad news. Get ready for another 15 years of nothing.

Not really. Re-signing Melo was a no brainer. You don't let your assets walk for nothing. Giving him the power to fire Phil.... not so much.

Melo has turned out to be a major low character passive aggressive POS.
Its no wonder he's never been a winner and any winning he almost did was let by Chauncy Billups or Jason Kidd. Melo lacks a certain man quality and this is our guy running the show now.

I see what you mean...is that why there were talks that phil wanted to buy out Melo's contract and let him walk for nothing?!
Sinix needs medical assistance. Completely lost the plot. Lmao at his tantrum.

your future with Phil is equally bleak. Are you only capable of negativity or is there a scenario where any part of this works out?

Actually the rumors were that Phil was resisting the buy out and Melo has been angling for it.
To me, it's clear Melo has been playing a pr game vs phil and the Knicks since early/mid last season.
We have invested in the guy that wants to put us in a worse position going forward because he has more loyalty to himself than the team.
Phil did this to himself. Who gave Melo the contract? Has any team ever bought out an all-star with multiple max contract years left? I don't think so. So Phil is re-signing because Dolan won't do something that no owner has ever done.

No one has ever done what Phil reported doesn't want to do so he should be fired.
This is the logic of some of your average Knick fans. God help this franchise.

You are 100% spot on but some people don't want to hear the truth!! Jackson failed massively and most of it was entirely his own fault. Did he get help from the likes of Melo, no of course not but Jackson's commitment was just as questionable as Melo's.

Nope, that's not my logic. I never even mentioned firing him or listed all my reasons for not supporting him. (You made it sound like the Melo issue was the only one.) He's not even being fired anywsy.

A shit job? All picks going forward. A 7' tnadem of KP and Willy. An exciting young PG. Good young talent that can grow into a team. Oh and Cap space. WHich he was trying to get more by dumping that POS Melo.
That is what a guy does how is trying to build a team for a long run at winning!
If you cant see it then enjoy the next few years of watching Melo lose more games.
