Knicks · Melo slays another all time great (page 3)

A toxic cloud has descends over the franshise, one that phil promised to clean up, only to make it worse but its Melo's fault! Melo forced phil to give him the NTC and refused to give it back, Melo's fault! Phil traded for Rose, signed, Noah to an absurd contract, in hopes of making a the playoffs but its Melo's fault!...Phil is the highest paid exec in the league, by far, but you don't want to hold him accountable because its Melo's fault!...KP skipped the exit meetings, its Melo's fault! We can go on an on...It seems like phil wanted out...numerous reporters have said as much weeks ago and its looks like thats the case...Phil has been settingup Melo to take the fall for weeks now...
Melo plays the game. HE IS EXPECTED TO CARRY THE EFFEN TEAM!! HE GETS PAID $27M a year to DO SOMETHING. What a POS!
And Phil is the highest paid exec in the league and has done a shit job! There's blame on both sides...
A shit job? All picks going forward. A 7' tnadem of KP and Willy. An exciting young PG. Good young talent that can grow into a team. Oh and Cap space. WHich he was trying to get more by dumping that POS Melo.
That is what a guy does how is trying to build a team for a long run at winning!
If you cant see it then enjoy the next few years of watching Melo lose more games.

This is a catch 22. The biggest problem Phil has had with melo is that he can't discipline him since Melo has Dolans ear.So instead of putting us in position to trade him he mailed in it in with badnplau and an ad team killing attitude. What does he care? Phil can't punish him or even reprimand him in public without being painted as the problem himself.
Again, phil rendered himself powerless by handing him the NTC!!! Phil did this to himself...
You are 100% spot on but some people don't want to hear the truth!! Jackson failed massively and most of it was entirely his own fault. Did he get help from the likes of Melo, no of course not but Jackson's commitment was just as questionable as Melo's.
Unlike dudes like sinix, i can be objective and blame both Melo and Phil...Hopefully, whomever takes over will still look to move Melo and rebuild this franchise....But to me, phil is more to blame considering this franchise has turned into a toxic environment.

lol this is Knickoftime above me here. The wacky guy that was trying to harass me yesterday.
He changed names but he's still doing the same shtick of being obsessively against Phil but then also turning around and saying he's not a Melo fan either.
Why did you change names? Is it because I told you I wasn't going to respond to you anymore after you tried to personal attack me? I'm putting this name on ignore too Knickoftime.

And, prior to the Knicks hiring him, what team has Phil ever built?
All true......and I feel the same way. But let me help u out by adding Dolan to the mix. The only dumb as owner to give denver all your trading chips.....plus some role players for melo who clearly was not something we needed since we already had amari (all offense no defense type)...plus we had a good chance of adding melo as a free agent. If u notice.. nobody is stepping up to give us anything for melo, especially Clev. Just like we should've waited for melo to be a free agent. Cleveland is waiting for us to buy him out. melo is not changing and he only adds value if u have a team of two way players.

You know what's toxic to the environment?
Letting a lazy, fat, no defense, iso, 32 year old breaking down Melo go over the head of the guy who is creating and instilling the direction and culture of the team.
Even if you didn't like Phil for the team, if you're a Knicks fan, you should be disturbed by the order and way in which things were done here.
After the draft, after Melo/KP's power play. Absolute disaster.
fishmike wrote:Phil deserves to be let go for how poorly he's managed the players here. He's made enough bad moves and giving Melo the richest contract ever at the time, a NTC and then asking for a $50mm + buyout are all things team presidents get severed for.

#1- buyout was not reportedly what Phil wanted. That's what Melo had been angling for
#2- Phil would of been killed for letting an asset like Melo walk for nothing too. No GM's really let all stars walk. Name me one.
Was Melo's contract the biggest ever at the time? I know Melo did not take the absolute max that he could earn and right now there are quite a few players that are much worse than Melo and making more money.

I've never engaged with you in my life. I think you are a delusional moron and would rarely waste my time!
I used to be a big Melo fan, not anymore I wanted him gone and still do. However Phil Jackson has done a truly diabolical job with the Knicks and deserves the boot. He's created a disgraceful atmosphere which has engulfed our team and led to a catalogue of continual issues. I actually believe he's a senile old **** and he should be ashamed of the money he has earned for doing such an abysmal job. I'm glad he's gone but I still hope we move on from Melo.

I don't mind debating with people who hate Phil jackson and have wanted him gone and can create a compelling argument that gets my mind moving. That's what I'm here on this forum for.
However, you sir, are an idiot and a troll. I'm putting your dumb ass on ignore again Knickoftime.

Yeah, lets not even pretend to think any GM would make that trade.
magicTs wrote:this a 100%. I liked his drafting and working with undrafted guys. Scouting was great. FAs were average to terrible. Trades were abysmal. Management of coaches and players abysmal. If people want to sell that Melo's contract was all Dolan fine... Phil horribly managed that situation. There is a decade of history for how to manage Melo. He is what he is. Phil tried to write his own book and ignored history.
