They cannot get fair market value for Carmelo Anthony after all this drama.
Anthony is a match nightmare in the low-post, pick and roll and is underrated passing out of the post.
The biggest challenge with Carmelo Anthony is that he is a great defensive liability at small forward and this undermines team defensive philosophy. The smart move is play Carmelo at power forward, KP at centre and Hernangómez and Noah can come off the bench.
Without the triangle, its high time to turn this deficit into an asset.
Yeah let's move him to GM/ pF. Let's go win that championship.
At the very least we end of showcasing Mello to draw some serious assets in a subsequent trade.
PF is his best position but he would only fit next to KP if KP was a post player. Since KP isn't a pst player on the offensive boards we will solely rely on Melo to get those offensive boards. In other words KP and Melo aren't a good fit.

No one wants him. Even his friends don't want him. They know who he is better than Phil.
Its not true no one wants him -- he is a 2nd tier option in the agency market --- his camp and Lebron's camp spread information about no one wanting him to pressure a buyout where Mello can go to a team that does not lose assets to acquire him.
Its a game of musical chairs, once the top few free agents choose their spots -- teams like Celtics, Cavs, Lakers and Washington will come calling.
Knicks will go small ball next year for sure. KP will see most of his time at center, and Melo at PF. Willy will be 6th man off the bench.
He is still getting released or bought out or moved. Dont expect him here next year.

I was a Phil guy but more than anything, I am a NOT Melo guy. He has been here for 6 years. He forced his way to NY and Dolan traded away assets to get him when he could have just waited...Melo wanted his $$. Dolan folded.
Now, he wanted a buyout - again no benefit to the Knicks talent wise but the benefit is for him. He gets his money. Again Dolan folded.
The man is selfish and wants his money first. Not to be a part of a winner. His disease will spread to KP and others unless he is gone now.
If he wont accept a trade - bench him until he begs for one. That is all he will understand.
