First off we are now stuck with Steve Mills as GM who has guided us through 4-5 20 win seasons. Hes got to be open of the dumbest GM's in the league. I mean blunt dumb--go look at the moves he was in charge of.

We just did an entire draft based on the triangle. Now some of these guys can play--and on me Id take Frank N at 8 again no matter what.

If I had to believe a sentiment--I believe that Phil on orders from Dolan--tried to make it work with Anthony and it wasnt there.

We are now stuck with a disaster area---I wish somehow some way we pulled off that deal with Boston for pick #3. I know how good J Jackson is and the other 2 assets wouldve steered us in more of a balanced. It WILL NOT surprise me if KP injures his knee before game 40 THIS YEAR. He was heading down that lane--and its going to happen. We shouldve been out of that with a plethora of awesome goods. Oh well darn.

Were at an oh sht moment--we just have to sit back and accept BOTH KP and Melo chucking 20 shots a game from all angles until they both get injured. Thats the team. And Im usre they will rectify that by using two number 1 picks to bring in another 34 year old.

Briggs,
you don't know that the deal for the 3rd pick was for real or what the true cost would have been.
As for Mills as GM, I'd say he was the financial guy doing operations and contracts. He is not the solution but not the problem.

the bigger miss is that Hornacek can't make Melo/KP work efficiently.

I tend to be more optimistic there than having us make the triangle work with our personnel.

How did we do a draft based just on the triangle? Frank has a great BBIQ and can play in whatever system you put him in and is a really good pick and roll PG. S.Mills won't be our permanent GM and we have Tim Leiweke to help him figure out the plan going forward and whoever doesn't know who T.Leiweke is then look him up cause he did a great job getting the Maple Leafs and Raptors to where they're at.

Actually the thesis if the post is how dumb Steve Mills has proven to be. I think phil would've been much better from here on out. mills is a disaster

Mills=Interim. I.e., holding down the fort until a new prez is found/named/secured.

Knixkik @ 6/28/2017 11:31 AM
Can't believe you are still advocating trading Porzingis for unknowns. Only you and Phil are that crazy.

Your thesis is incomplete.

As already pointed out you have no real insight into any Boston deal. We neither know any true particulars nor to what level anything was actually discussed. danny Ainge himself has very clearly and very publicly dismissed the seriousness (not to mention length) of any discussion.

You refer to it as "that" deal. There was no deal.

KP's knees also have nothing to do with Steve Mills.

But you're clearly previewing what will be a fixation for the foreseeable future - how Porzingis suffering a major injury is obvious to everyone ... except of course the teams you want to trade him to.

Your "thesis" requires they remain ignorant of the possibility.

BigRedDog @ 6/28/2017 11:32 AM
Agree Mills is a disaster.
Briggs don't you think J Jacksons off court behavior sends up any red flags??? How can you completely ignore this?

Mills=Interim. I.e., holding down the fort until a new prez is found/named/secured.

Mills was hired as president after Grunwald was let go. Then he was repurposed as GM when Phil was hired. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/09/27/sports...

I would guess that Mills will continue with the team but team will look to hire a basketball guy. That might be team President or GM. Titles don't really matter. Job description does.

Even job descriptions are worthless at MSG. It's about ability to improve the team...you can gyrate semantically about that endlessly, but that's the basic JD. Someone that knows the game and can help make the team seem attractive to FAs.

I'm not sure who that is, but it was very evident very early that it wasn't Phil. Jackson's 11 rings didn't seem to interest any of the new jacks...even playing with Melo who everyone seems to love.

IT stank, Jackson funk, Mills smells...none of it reeks (or wreaks) as bad as Dolan. I can't imagine him really ever handing the keys to Knicks Pres/GM again...not that he really did. Well, maybe Isiah Lord Thomas III, but that might be the literal end of the franchise.

At this point do you even care? If Isiah comes back. I don't care who they bring in I know it's going to fail. There are to many outside factors that want it fail.
