he makes all the sense in the world
David Griffin, who was fired last week as general manager of the Cleveland Cavaliers, is a candidate for the New York Knicks' presidency, sources tell ESPN's Ramona Shelburne.EDITOR'S PICKS
Knicks' next move? Free agency, Melo take priority over president search
The Knicks are focusing on free agency at the moment instead of finding Phil Jackson's replacement. Here's a look at where things stand.
The Knicks are assembling a list of candidates they'll speak to. That process is ongoing, but Griffin has had an initial conversation with the Knicks and is expected to have more talks when the team moves to the next level in its process.
The team announced Wednesday morning that it mutually agreed to part ways with Phil Jackson as president.
The Knicks completed a disappointing 31-51 season in April and missed the playoffs for the fourth straight year. They were 80-166 in Jackson's three full seasons as team president, losing at least 50 games in each of them.
Griffin was Cleveland's GM for three seasons and helped the Cavs to their first-ever title in the 2015-16 season.
Savvy experience prez who answers his cell when other GM's call..and you could never rule out labron showing up next season..Just forget about building through the draft though
I am surprised that Shelbourne keeps breaking Knick stories. She isn't Wojo and she isn't on the Knicks beat. Phil is gone. Is Rambis leaking info?

I thought she reports NBA news, not just local.
Really? Cause he signed Lebron? You think he had anything to do with Lebron choosing Cleveland? Genuinely begging us not to sign Griffin.
Where's David Blatt? Griffin is the GM counterpart... they rode Lebron's success. Nothing more.
Keep Horny, clean house of all management. All. Management.
Get me a metrics GM similar to Morey.

MSG is a corporation not some freeking ball club.
They need a corporate suit and a name.
So Griffin or Urji will be fine for them.

She is breaking a lot of Knick stories.
This is the guy that drafted Anthony Bennet number one. Had absolutely nothing to do with Cleveland winning. Was given three number one overall. Sorry this is a bad move just stick with Mills.

He wasn't the head guy there until 2014. He did draft Wiggins.

And wisely traded him away for love, gave phil trash for JR and Shump. Mills is a ok guy to have around, but what exactly has he gotten credit for, this is like the 2nd or 3rd time he's getting passed over. That's an automatic RED FLAG. It's not like any other franchise is calling for his services. He's just another Dolan guy, like Allan.
This needs to get done before FA. You don't want to bring in players that the new guy doesn't even want. The great thing about this FA is that the Knicks don't need to make any big moves and I doubt anybody of real importance wants to come to NY right now anyway.
Griff is trash. Trash
He had nothing to do with Cle's success. Lebrun was the gm there
Please no, he has shown nothing and has spent the last few years trading picks for over the hill players- the exact thing we need to avoid.
Here's his record, obviously it's hard to tell how many of his moves he was forced to do to apease Lebron, but the contracts he handed out to JR Smith, Shumpert and Tristan Thomas are horrific overpays:

As some of you said, Lebron is the GM. All moves are win now if they want his majesty to grace Cleveland of his presence . We don't know what he would have done without Lebron. I sure hope not trading all those picks.
This the perfect pick for the "win now" crowd who cant wait to see the knicks start on the next set of blind starfukks. And is exactly the wrong choice for a rebuild. Typical Melo er, Dolan move.
Not advocating or trashing him but it bears noting that Jerry West is advocating for him
Jerry helped build the grizzlies to a good team, then GS. His opinion is worth something
He's most known for drafting Anthony Bennet and the large contracts he's given to lebrons CAA buddies.
Now that I think about it, that's why he might likely get the job. Without Phil, CAA creeps back into power with the Knicks.
Expect some sh-tty contracts for CAA guys going forward. But hey, we'll be liked around the league now right?

Been following the clips?
They are preparing a very serious run for lebron.

Lebron should join GS. That's the way the league is headed
