Knicks · Phil Jackson Is Still Running The Knicks From Behind The Curtain (page 2)

Can Phil come back once we trade Melo?

It's better if he stays behind the curtain to keep the slimy press away and also to help attract free agents.
Rumors are that we're interested in Greg Monroe in a sign and trade for DRose. Monroe always had the eye of Phil so it fits in well with my hypothesis.

There are absolutely no rumors the Knicks are interested in Monroe. The article you link to doesn't cite any reports or rumors. He just tries to make sense of the Rose meeting with the Bucks report and tries to imagine scenarios in which it makes sense, ending on this note.

"Chances the Bucks sign Rose: 1/10"

Again, there is absolutely nothing linking the Knicks to Monroe other than one guy's imagination.

Just like the narrative that Jackson couldn't sell Monroe to accept a max contract here so Phil can't recruit, when yhe actual story is Phil never OFFERED Monroe a max contract. Then the same radio station that reported he never offered that contract constantly went back and said how Phil couldn't even recruit Monroe to sign a max contract.

But why let facts get in the way of a good, solid, negative story.

You're right. And it's the "bad press" from the Daily News (Isola, Lupica, etc...) that has led this mob/pitchforks movement, sabotaging Phil every step along the way.

The "bad press" is happening for a reason. It's been a very personal war between Mort Zuckerman (owner Daily News) and James Dolan, ever since the Dolans first bought Newsday, out-bidding the Daily News and NY Post in the process. Along the way, Idiot Dolan fanned the flames, by insulting Zuckerman, publicly offering to buy him out for one dollar. The negative press is happening as a direct result of this feud between billionaire A-holes. Zuckerman has long wanted a partnership (access to Dolan's Newsday presses) to help the Daily News turn things around, because they're currently losing money.

Unfortunately, the average fan is seduced by the mob mentality because they don't see what's up behind the scenes.
I don't believe that any other NBA team has to overcome such absurd obstacles to success. It's unique to the Knicks, and it makes me wonder if it will ever be possible for us to win a chip in this toxic environment of "bad press" being used as a form of extortion...

mlby1215 @ 7/4/2017 1:47 AM
Yeah, I really dislike NY media. Someone like Isola is a troll, but we as fans should know better.

That's why I think Dolan won't allow another to dictate what he should do. ESPN and Daily News Have a vendetta against the Knicks and Dolan. It's well known that ESPN is up for sale. Disney wants to dump it ASAP. Dolan would be wise to ask and buy ESPN.

I would take Monroe for Rose.
Good bench scorer. He seems to have accepted that role well.
He could give us some much needed firepower off the bench.

Willy/Monroe at one spot, KP/Thomas at the other. Maybe a little too big for some people's taste, but I'm fine with it because I think an upgrade is an upgrade and we're getting more skilled and talented. The league is seeing teams score 105-110 points without trouble, almost like an average. So we need as much scoring talent as we can get.

Monroe has a nice role on the Bucks. He wouldnt be a bad guy to get but the Knicks have KOQ, Plumlee, Willy, Noah, Kornet at the 5. That already makes the roster clumsy. If you think KP is going to be a 5 then more than 1/3 of your roster is made up of 5's. Monroe pushes that to just under 1/2.

Phil is very calculating. He could very well be advising from a far. If not he left an imprint on the organization. They haven't changed policy. We are still building through the youth and Melo is still going to be traded. Namaste motherfucker

Or it could mean nothing and he put a pick up knowing that media will run with it and go crazy while he is really just enjoying summer/retirement.

I'm honored to be so highly thought of.

Dolan only fired Phil because it was impossible to keep him Melo and KP
Once Phil was out
Melo played ball on a trade
KP camp likely happy too

As they showed with Griffin they don't really want a real GM or prez running the show
Just a figure head

This thread is so cringey

I hate myself for upping it.

Bonn1997 @ 7/14/2017 7:55 AM
Phil is the one who paused the Melo trade, right?
