Knicks · Phil Jackson Is Still Running The Knicks From Behind The Curtain (page 1)

We're looking to sign Alan Williams, a rebounding machine in the Dennis Rodman style. Also trying to acquire George Hill, the prototypical long point guard for the triangle offense. We're still trying to trade Melo as Phil wanted to do. I think that Phil's still running the organization and is the Wizard behind the curtain.
Welpee @ 7/1/2017 4:03 PM
If that's true Phil needs a hobby.
CrushAlot @ 7/1/2017 4:22 PM
You have him doing more than he did when he was employed by the Knicks.

Phil set the foundation and the organization is seeing it through. Phil can't be the figure head anymore. Not even a consultant because of the media scrutiny.

Anyway no need to keep that thought alive. Just focus on what the Knicks do. Steve Mills is in charge

THIS! The Knicks got what they needed from Phil in terms of a foundation and basketball principles! Now this organization has to carry out the rest of the process. They know what they want and need in a player. It's player development time.

If Noah gets an extension, we'll know you're right!

As long as Rambis is here phil is here, I hope he's not the new HERB Williams
yellowboy90 @ 7/1/2017 11:11 PM
I doubt it by the way Rosen stood up for his boy.
TLover @ 7/2/2017 3:20 AM
I thought the same... but all this.. just so Melo waives his no trade is kinda ridiculous. PJ did mention Steve Mills could eventually handle the job himself. This behind the scenes could be true bc I could just see the Knicks promoting from within.

I think all you're seeing is Phil has put a longterm plan in place (for a while) that the Knicks are continuing to run.

Hopefully only the few good parts of Phil's plan are being retained. If they overpay for overrated guys in their 30s this off-season and lead the league in mid range shooting next year, we'll know Phil is fully in charge still.

Yep, don't trade away 1st round picks, rebuild via the draft, don't overpay vets

Well now that the slimy press is off of his back he can do more because he's more well rested.

I don't care for Melo but he's going to have a great year to prove Phil was wrong. If we can add George Hill and maybe a rebounder like Alan Williams we're going to be a very good team and make the playoffs as our youngsters improve.

So if that happens, next off-season we'd be capped out and melo would be on the decline - how would we add franchise changing talent? Can't believe some people still haven't grasped the need to build via the draft.

Can Phil come back once we trade Melo?
