With the way Dotson has played, I am ok with this.
Dotson is younger, more upside at this point in their careers.
I liked Holiday, but he's not really a 3 and his best position is 2. With Lee and Dotson, I don't think we really needed Holiday.
I really think with some work, Dotson can fill a 15 to 20 minute role for the team next year.
Good 3 point shot.
Above average athleticism for defense and some slashes to basket.
Would play well in a high tempo offense.
I'm really disappointed in this. We couldn't at least match this to keep him? It's a relatively cheap contract for his production last year. He became my favorite Knick last year, along with Lee. They both brought it on both ends when they played and hit clutch shots. I really hope we sign Waiters or McLemore to offset this loss now. Good luck Justin. You exceeded expectations with the Knicks. I'm bummed out.
On the negative side, if you lose Rose, we basically traded Lopez, Grant/THJ for 1 year of Rose/Holiday and also wound up signing Noah to replace Lopez. Ouch. Hope Noah turns his career around, the last two years have been poor for him.

I like Dotson, too, as a prospect, and believe he's an NBA player, but to think he can match Holiday's production last year is wrong. He's still raw, can't really handle the ball at all--needs to work on skills. Holiday was a two way player who was our instant offense off the bench. I'm going to miss him and his production and professionalism will not be easily replaced.

We got Dotson out of that trade too.

I agree...this is a cheap deal surprised they were not competitive with an offer
Ben McLemore just signed a 2 yr, 10.7 mill dollar deal with the Grizzlies. Now Mills is sleeping on the wheel. Cheap contract.

Did Mills catch Phil's sleeping sickness?

True, forgot that.
Hope we can sign and trade Rose for something, but I'm not holding my breath on that one.

I missed today's game. From what I have seen of Dotson, he has trouble putting the ball on the floor. He is an ok prospect. I don't think he is ready to fill Holiday's role. He may have to. Holiday is 28. Maybe the Knicks want younger guys. Still this and McLemore's deals were both very reasonable. I am not sure what the plan is.

At that price, I would have tried directing him to the Pelicans to play with his brother Jrue. I suspect we could've gotten back an encouraging enough package for the trouble. He and Lance Thomas for Alexis Ajinca, Quincy Pondexter and some second round picks would work for both sides. We wouldn't increase our payroll much, if at all and we'd add to our draft cache. Anyway, what's done is done and Holiday's timeline does not fit the new direction of this team.

Who says we didn't. We're not the most attractive destination these days.
Have to create room. Melo trade will yield pieces possibly Ariza and others if deal goes down.
Yawn, baker brings everything Justin did and is younger with a way higher basketball IQ

I was thinking the same thing.

How/why? Ariza is good friends with CP3 and recruited him to HOU and Mike D'Antoni is no Melo fan. And given Melo's interest in staying close to NY to be with his son, a deal between both teams seems highly unlikely.

True

Also true
I would've kept holiday at that price and traded Lee out west.
I wouldn't mind the Knicks going after Bazz Muhammad at a similar price. His defense sucks but he is young and could make a nice reclamation project.
