Yes let's continue on our path to 37 wins and first round exits, And this way we can make sure we are poisoning the minds of the youth and Melo gets to instill the losing culture he had build here over 6 years. Great plan.
Yet this is probably what asik end up happening minus the Denver trade.
Translation: This is a very tortured, roundabout way for Briggs to diminish Porzingis some more.

and to get bledsoe on this team

Team does not work with Willy G and Kp in stArting unit. If I remember right k Mchale played a nice 28 minute off the bench role on a championship team. I don't think kp is a 38 minute player. I'd rather have a healthy kp for 28 min on a balanced team. Also I'd like to see the k I ks try and win and stay away from free agents like Lee Noah etc. we need pro guards who can play we need athletiscm we need balance. One thing I notice from phil and Clarence Gaines-- way to many players who have no skill off the dribble and a lack of athletiscm

What truly separates people who can analyze basketball and those who think they can is knowing when to say "I don't know"... "I don't have enough information yet"
THAT's a real BB mind and just a sound mind in general. These are exceedingly young players with relatively little NBA experience. To say you know whether they can co-exist long term is ludicrous.
That's pretender stuff.
I don't think kp is a 38 minute player.
Pretend doctor guesswork.

I think we've seen a good sample size.

Nah. The math is against him. Willy G can play 38 minutes-- KP 28 for 65-72 games
The problem is KP should've never been a starter from the beginning. But now it's too late. What this team needs is a Crowder type SF. A defensive and rebounding SF.....to compliment melo and KP on defense. offense....melo at PF is the best lineup for Hornys small ball culture.

KP was ROY runner up his rookie season as a starter, I think he passed the test. Next season Porzingis had less of a role in the offense. Plug in a pass first PG in the starting lineup, and Im pretty sure KP will deliver.
This is a terrible idea. We can't build a team around KP or give the coach a chance till Melo is somewhere else.
Lol yeah lets bench KP.
Dear Lord.

Anyone can look at his numbers for his first 2 seasons and just predict a conservate number moving forward.
what else you got but basic literacy?

If we don't get a decent return for Melo (1st round draft pick, player) then let him play out his year as the PF. No buyouts...

this isn't benching KP - it's moving him to the second unit where he can be the focal point of the offense, and play the 5 without getting beaten up by the opposing team's starting line up.

I agree with this completely.
A strong defensive SF or PF that can defend PFs & SFs and rebound.
We're just such a mix of parts.
What happens when/if Noah comes back & what happens if he's healthy enough to contribute?

And what happens if Rose re-signs with us and becomes a pass-first, second and third PG? And pigs start flying?
And what happens if Horny figures out that Noah is about as useful in a Phoenix-type offense as Melo is in any type of defensive scheme at this point?
God, everytime I see Noah's name, I miss Rolo more... and I hate the memory of Chris Dudley's FT shooting even more.
No way KP is ever going to the bench at this point. Only in knicksfanland can a top 5 jersey selling unicorn be relegated to the bench. If he's going to be injury prone, sending him to the bench is only going to delay the inevitable. And KP's brother can see that giant ultrasuperdupermax payday approaching like one of those enormous Russian jetliners coming in for a landing...
