If Mills manages to dump Lee's contract and sign Waiters to a 3 yr deal, I will be impressed. Waiters fits in perfectly with what we're trying to do, and will offset the scoring loss after the eventual Melo departure.
Nitty, Waiters, KP, Willy looks good on paper for a promising young core.

Two young guys who do completely different things but complement one another well. In the meantime Baker is also a nice short term starter with Waiters, not as good as Dragic, but Baker will get Waiters the ball in his strong spots.
Baker and Frank are two High IQ players with the ball in their hands....And they are team first types. Plus they are score when needed. And they are not undersized, so that helps on defensive PnR.
Waiters would be a nice compliment to Melo....And would help me forget about Dennis Smith or Monk.....Who are similar offensive threats as Waiters, but shorter. I'm worried Waiters will turn down the broadway lights for the sand and sun. But if he's smart, he will use the exposer and NY marketing by helping us turn this franchise around. Miami ain't going anywhere and he will always be in Wades shadow. NY stunk for over 20 years.....Perfect place for someone up and coming to make their career explode. And Waiters is a NY type of guard.

May have nothing to do with this though.
Oh oh, hope its just a one year deal. I don't understand why he'd leave the heat
Im not crazy about this signing. We talk about Melo being a ball stopper and want to bring a guy who's just as bad and not as good scorer. Waiters is sixth man material. Yes, his tank game is strong. Look at how he helped Cleveland collect picks. But he's not the right for what we want to do, which is develop Frank and Porzingis. Miami's organizational infrastructure is a better fit.

A shooting guard with a true shooting percentage barely over 50%? Also, he averaged four assists and Melo averaged 3. Let's not make Waiters out to be Magic Johnson. Waiters is the chick at the end of the bar during last call lol Sometimes walking away is better than saying you pulled something just to save your pride.

Waiters was 50% on Catch n Shoot from 2pt and 42.8% from 3pt with an efg of 62% overall on Catch n Shoot. This is more of a Catch n Shoot Offense.
Waiters Assist % was 23.8 vs Melo at 14.5 last yr. Waiters may be flawed but he does have some pluses like being 25. He's not a good player but I can see some aspects where he makes some sense. He'd be more of a fit than DRose.

Didn't we say the same things about J.R.? I agree, he can be a useful player...for another team.

First we must dump Melo. Waiters would have took us from a bad team to almost mediocre....I'd rather be really bad...get a young player, build a championship base, at least some hope for the future.
This is a guy that could've flourished in hornacek's offense. Money talks though.
Basically nothing can be done until the Melo situation is resolved - either by keeping him or trading him.

I think he would of put up 18 and 5 here. Would of been basically the same as Rose but a better outside shot at 13 per instead of 20.
Just need to avoid re-signing Rose and then hopefully we'll have dodged all free agent bullets

He needs Riley for his career. If you read his article on how Riley got him in world class shape he should stay there for his entire career. He goes anywhere else his work ethic isn't good so he will become the old Waiters.
