After the Haywood signing, Ainge had to renounce the rights to Kelly Olynyk making him an unrestricted free agent in the market for cap space. Several teams have already inquired about him. We should be one of those teams. He would be another good piece for a rebuild.
He's 26 years old, has gotten better every season on a really good team as a role player. He's a lights out shooter (stretch 5), with a low post game and above average passer. He would be perfect to pair with KP and Willy. Nice young front court and he could also serve as a mentor type. Will not have to play huge minutes.
Also hearing that Ainge is fielding calls for Smart and is looking to trade him for cap space. I would explore this even more, if I were Mills. He would be a steal if we can get him as part of our rebuild.
Mills better be working the phones...
Hell no we have Oquinn, Noah, Willy, and KP..We need play making guards

no we shouldn't, the roster is cluttered with bigs. Smart on the other hand I would be open to trading for

When you're rebuilding, you acquire young talent regardless of position. He fits that mold. Noah is not part of our future and KOQ is still up in the air. I'd rather have Olynyk.

This roster needs an influx of more young talent. We shouldn't be worrying about positions of need. Just acquiring assets and talent.
When you dont have money yes we should worry about positions. I f we can sign a player right now we need to resign Rose or Rondo and then sign tyreke Evans
Olynyk is a solid player and though we have too much depth in the front court, I think he would be a good get. This is the type of asset you stockpile for future trades. Also gives Jeff all kinds of options in the frontcourt.
Lol. Just say not. We have too many centers and pfs. Kelly is adding nothing to this team and he will cost too much.

Yep, he's redundant. Plus, he doesn't really address any of the weaknesses in our frontcourt. We need more rebounding and defense, not scoring.
This could be a very fruitful summer if we keep the powder dry.
The current chatter is about Waiters, Simmons, Smart, Olynyk and so on. If we can acquire one or two we'll be in great shape.
The reason you look at a guy like Olynyk is because you may have a deal for O'Quinn in your back pocket. Lots of teams are in serious luxury tax territory. Some nice players will free up.

If the Knicks could move one of their many bigs it makes sense. I think Plumlee is coming back and they just signed Kornet. The Knicks need guards.

If we're going to trade for below average Smart then trade for above average Corey Joseph instead.
Mills needs to replace Melo with some young talent at the wing, or at least temporary help at the wing.
We have enough bigs for now.
Seems like every time a team releases someone a fan likes its "Mills better not sleep on this........."
I can't speak for Knicks priorities right now, but some how 26 year old Kelly Olynk does not seem like a big one. WE have some cap space and need a starting PG, and we have a disgruntled fading star who makes 25mil a year we need to move.

we can do that, As long as we are adding young guards and wings I'm fine with it. No more frontcourt players. Just between Noah, Willy, and Porzingis we have most of the frontcourt minutes eaten. Those guys should barely be playing together too.
Olynx will make Willy and KP seem fast on defense
