Knicks Rumors: Talks heat up with free agent Rajon Rondo

Adding Rondo would help change that culture....And would be a good mentor for Frank, as far as basketball mentoring skills. Off the court mentoring is the issue I would have with Rondo. At this point, it's about picking your poison, with the FA market drying up.

If I think back to my best city league teams I put together, it was loaded with 2 way players...plus additional specialty players like speedsters, shooters, etc....Horny is the perfect coach to have with todays NBA. The way to build a championship team is to load up on 3D type players. Not the old ground and pound knicks of the 90's.....But a defensive team that turns steals and rebounds into fast buckets.....Similar to the old Lakers and Bulls teams. Or current GS team. All 5 players on the court can start and finish a fast break. And we are very close to having those players.....Adding more is even better.
KP
Noah (when healthy)
Melo
Lee
Baker
Frank N
Holiday (was a perfect example...tough loss)
But we have that shooter we drafted to replace Holiday
Guys that don't fit todays run and gun....3D types are KOQ or Billy....I want to keep Billy, but trade KOQ for a young flexible two way player.....Like Holiday was!
Agreed with the bolded...This isn't 90s basketball anymore. Teams can't roll out a team of defensive specialists that struggle to score ala those Pacers and Knick teams. Take a look at the finals, the Warriors scored 129 in one game and 132 in another...The Cavs 137 and 120 pts in two separate games against one of the best defensive teams win the league.
As you said, its essential to have multiple two way players if you want to compete on the elite level. If you have a team that can create some easy opportunities and can get some key stops down the stretch, then you are in business.
Its going to have to start with KP. He has to be the player on defense who puts down that foundation, inspires others to play defense, and gets in the face of those who aren't giving it their all. It has to start with someone, it should be the player who is being groomed to lead the franchise into the future.

Totally agree....with that said, KP would be better off defending 5's and daring 5's to defend him...Hopefully the coaching staff sees it that way too...
@OP - Can Melo shit rainbows? You can't build a defensive culture when you pay this scumbag insolent prick $25MM to hold the ball, take bad shots and not even try on defense. Get his ass out of NY, then we can talk culture. And MElo fans will try to make this about KP and/or coaching - it's always somebody else's fault.
