It's annoying but be cool. This is all for us. We trying to get the best deal that we can.

Also, Morey gets things done. He will find a way to make this work.

I think it's reasonable to say that the longer you wait, the more the chance of a deal falling apart.

Nah, total generalization.

Correct - its based on how deals between corporations are negotiated and how they generally fall apart if allowed to fester.

This is utter BS, coming from someone who negotiated the sale of a company over months.

That said, a three-team trade and how complicated that is has no relevant analogy in the corporate world.

4 teams? hmmm....Makes me wonder if one of Denver or the Nyets are involved. Nyets tried to sign Crabbe last yr and thats a contract that i'm sure the Blazers would love to move...Hopefully, we come out of this with a 1st rd pick and no contracts longer than Melo's....We'll see...

The NBA summer trade market is not the same as selling a company. Teams have new options and offers every minute. Specially the ones being asked to take salary dumps. I am afraid that other GM's are waiting for Knicks to have another lapse in judgment, highly probable, and give in to to accepting a terrible deal. Hope I am wrong. But Knicks history is not very reassuring.

I don't care how long this trade takes to get done. I want the best deal possible. If that takes a few weeks more then I am all for it.

It's just a matter of logic. If a deal is finalized at noon, it is done. If it's 12:01 and the deal isn't finalized, another minute for the deal to fall apart has happened. That's not to say the Knicks shouldn't hold out for the best offer but each moment they wait *is* a gamble.

The question is who is the 4th team... hoping it's phx, fingers crossed it's not Detroit and we don't end up with Reggie Jackson

No, it is not. We agree they are not analogous.

I was referring to BS as the idea that deals in the corporate "generally" fall apart if not completedd quickly.

No it isn't. You're referring to a deal largely agreed upon in principle. We don't know if that applies to this "deal." The time may be required to find the principle of any deal.

nyknickzingis @ 7/12/2017 12:53 PM
Yeah seems like Houston is the front runner.
I can see them be willing to deal Gordon and Anderson.
Gordon goes to one team, Anderson another.
What they get back most of it goes to us, with maybe a player heading to Houston.

We've got a pretty filled out roster aside from Melo

Hernangomez/Noah
Porzingis/O'Quinn
Kusminskas/Thomas
Hardaway/Lee
Ntilikina/Baker

This is without looking at some other players like Dotson, Kornet, Randle etc. who will be back and forth with the team and the G League.

If we trade Melo, looking at our roster, would be nice to get a starter level 3, and maybe a backup PG. A starting level SF, a backup level vet PG, a first round pick would be real nice.

Rotation-post Melo trade
Hernangomez/O'Quinn/Noah
Porzingis/Thomas
SF/Kuzminskas
Hardaway/Lee
Ntilikina/Baker/PG

I'd be cool hanging on til February. I get that this would be a much cleaner break in the summer, but Phil's firing gave us an out. The guy who publicly wanted Melo gone is gone. Give some generic BS comment on how Melo is committed to the team/city and we're thankful to have him; dilute some of the frenzy. Melo hasn't been talking and stirring the drama, we can survive a few more months.

I think he'd bring more value closer to the deadline.

This is what's wrong with sports news today. Everyone is so eager to get the scoop that they're doing a crappy job of checking sources, if they check them at all. Hearsay is what passes for "breaking news" these days. Twitter just makes things worse. It looks like this trade talks never got passed stage 2. Woj has an impressive network of GM and agent sources, but it's in their best interest to try and put pressure on front offices to get this deal done. Mills is right to want to do his due diligence and take his time. Eff what Morey wants. We need to ensure that we come out OK in this deal.

Agreed upon in principle is nice but anyone can back out at any moment until everything is signed.

How about this get New Orleans involved:

Houston gets: melo
Portland gets: ariza
Nop gets: capela,Anderson
Knicks get: cousins, harkless

Nop dose it cause they already know cousins is gone at the end of the year, it's like amare and melo with Anthony and cousins it just doesn't work. And they like Anderson but getting capela is the gem of the deal for them.

Knicks get to experiment with a KP , cousins front court if it doesn't work we walk away from boggie.

Cousins,Willy,Noah
KP,oquin,lance
Harkless,lance,kuz
Timmy,lee,Dotson
Frank,baker,Randal

There's no way in hell New Orleans is trading Cousins so fast and for that little.
