KP, Willy, Nitty, THJ, Dotson, Baker...? Who else will the Knicks add? I expect trades will commence.
Woo capped out for at least two more years so we can make a splash with a Tim Hardaway jr. Color me shocked the Hawks didn't match.
Welcome back th.
At this point don't worry about $ and focus on player continuing upswing in play . He's young athletic and a hard worker

Hawks wanted him back but not at that price--since they have Baze making the same money at the same position, who has been a bust.

That makes no sense. They are a young team under the cap and they are not going to keep a productive 24 year old that is better than their current sg?
There's an error somewhere in your story and it's that Atlanta knows he's know worth anywhere near that salary and that's the type of deal that sets your franchise back.
If we can move Melo, it's not bad. Fingers crossed.
we over paid for him but I think it is a good deal! Hardeway has some upside.
Bone head move signing THJ for 20 mil more than any other offers. Just another gunner who can't shoot consistantly. When you think things can't get any worse, they do.

You realize that we'll never know how far the Hawks would've come up to match an offer so we can't say if it was $50 mil, $60 or $65. Just using the lowest number doesn't reflect how much more they would've gone up to match. That's why the Knicks did this.

I was thinking that too. Their starting point in the negotiations was $12 mil a year.
Unless hardaway learned how to play defense this is a terrible deal. Unbelievable!!! Ugh!!! Well there goes the hope of preserving cap space. Only hope is that Frank is as good as advertised.
Atlanta will probably sign Pope from Detroit for the same price as hardaway and Pope is a better all-around SG.

This stood out to me, "Playing in a better defensive system, THJ numbers improved (drastically)" Do we believe we will have a better defensive system than ATL? Or better yet, an improved system from last yr? I hope so...

The information on THJ defensive improvement is searchable. Just for reference CLee D Rating was 114 and THJ 109! That's already an upgrade.

The word is he did learn to play defense and stats seem to back it up. The question is whether hell revert back to his old ways

A system alone doesn't make you hold players to 38% shooting the past two years. Most players in the best defensive systems don't hold their opponents to that. I'm sure Timmy himself improved defensively too. It's not all the system.
