Here he is at the end of the season:

And his salary is only $1.35 million.
If Portland is the team, the player I want is there draft pick from this season - Zach Collins. I think he's going to surprise people.

There's no way we're getting Collins. We don't hold a lot of good cards here.

Napier is better than Leonard or Harkless. He's a guy who can control the game with the dribble-- we don't have that. He had a few games end of season that shows his potetial

He barely played last year and it would be wise to insist on Napier as a throw in.
choice is bring back melo, buy him out, or trade him for for little cap impact beyond one year with perhaps some useful value returning either on the court of via trade assets. Any pick a plus. At some point we can stare hm or Rockets down. Fans will always thing we could get more.
Paul George went for very little in my book. We had melo for 7 years. NTC contract was done r we lost hm for nothing at age 29. Then we had hope. Now, its time to move on.

Napier has been in the league for 3 years...turns 26 in a few days, and has not been able to stick with a team for more than a year...Two of those teams, Miami and Orlando, could have used a good PG.
Not sure I'm seeing much value here...sorry. Would rather have a #2 pick instead.
Harkless has shown improvement, is young, and fills a need if this trade goes down.

Hard to prove your worth when your career average minutes is 13.7. None of those teams gave him a proper chance. Per 36 minutes he's been getting more productive and more efficient with the ball every year. Besides, at the end of the day, we need to amass young talent. Napier has bags of it.

The question becomes why hasn't he been given a chance?
His playing time has gone down over the years, too.
Comes down to opportunity costs...
I would take a draft pick over Napier at this point...
I would rather give Mayes a chance than Napier if I have to lose the same pick...
I would rather have Baker on my team- If bringing Napier over under contract would mean we have to give Ron up, I would not do it.

Plenty of variables can go into why a player wasn't given a chance such as poor management, too much talent in front of him, injuries...etc
We can ask the same question for every guy on the roster, Baker and Mayes in particular. For example why wasn't either of them drafted if they were that good?
Besides, getting Napier doesn't mean we have to lose baker or Mayes. We could sign Mayes to a two way deal, cut randle and have frank, baker and Napier as our pg core..pretty decent group if you ask me.

+1.

You talk about Z.Collins like people don't know about him. He went at i think #10 in the draft and was a guy i as well as others were saying was gonna beast in the NBA so i don't see him really surprising too much, unless he stinks and then i'd be surprised..lol. Either way there's no way we'd be able to get him if a deal went down with them as the 3rd team.

I'd rather give D.Buycks a chance over Napier which could actually happen with the rumors of us being interested in him. He's 28 and has some experience in the NBA. We have plenty of scoring with KP, THJ, Willy, C.Lee and even L.Kornet, Kuz and D.Dotson so we just need a PG that can play defense and distribute the ball which Buycks can do. No thank you on Napier and no way is he better then M.Harkless.
I could see the Rockets maybe trading Ariza or Gordon for a pick and then sending that to us (or Portland) in that 3 team deal. Its up in the air if the pick goes to us or Portland sinee they would have to take Anderson, but are sending us Harkless and a bad contract in Leonard for the best player in the trade. The purpose of the season to me would be to build up value for Lee, Lance, and KOQ to try and get a trade for them that sends picks to the knicks.

Lee, kuz, Dotson and kornet are scorers? Yeah I don't think so.
Nobody said Napier is better than harkless. I was advocating for getting him included in the deal.
