Knicks · Redrafting weak 2013 NBA Draft; where does THJ rank? (page 1)

Good article by Hahn on his take on the THJ signing and how we have historically hardly ever resigned our 1st round draft picks to second contracts, which THJ qualifies as in a half ass backwards way.

But more interestingly, he asks the question: if we could redraft the 2013 NBA Draft now, where Anthony Bennett was infamously the dubious 1st pick, where would the players rank?

Obviously, Giannis would go #1 by a large margin, then Gobert who was picked 27th! After that, Otto Porter and CJ McCollom. That would probably be the unanimous top 5. But after that, it's up in the air?

Oladipo? Coming off a bad season hasn't lived up to potential. Shroeder...okay, but not an all star yet. Adams...a solid role player. Caldwell-Pope?

Even if you include these players, THJ falls in the top 10 of his draft class right now coming off a breakout campaign last year, and he could move even further up. We drafted him at 24, and that's a steal if you look at it right now. He has a chance to crack the top 5 before all is said and done since he's trending up.

Just a different way to look at the signing.

They might have a point if he holds up he would definitely be a top 10 out of his draft....... which is pretty sweet considering he was taken at 24. The only issue is we have to see if the improve leve of play maintains now that he is back in NYC

What if we redrafted the 2017 draft? Is Tatum first and Mitchell 7th or 8th?

After a few summer league games?

Thing is, I can't ask if you're serious because I know you are.

If anyone wants to put in the time, one good way is to look at the ESPM +/- and see where each player falls on that list.

I think Hardaway has definitely shown to be better than 24th in that draft class.
In a way it's nice that we have some young players we drafted, on the same roster.
Think most in the front office probably regret trading Tim and wanted him back after he had a good season last year.

We have 4 players who are lottery level talent for their respective drafts on the roster right now

Hardaway - Top 10 level pick from 2013 class
Porzingis - Top 2 level pick from 2015 class
Hernangomez - Top 10 level pick from 2016 class
Ntlikina - Top 10 pick this year (To be seen if he is worth it or not or of that level in this draft)

I can't recall the last time we had four young players like that who should be able to start together, and all been drafted relatively recently. We're doing a good job with this. Only remaining feat is to trade Melo without taking back toxic contracts (which will be tough to do).

Hardaway needs to build off the way he closed the season. I think he fits Hornachek's offense well. He's going to be given the role Melo had on the team last year, only with less isolations. I think he can get us 15 points a night. Willy should be able to give us 12 points/8 boards. KP needs to back up his actions and play like an all-star, give the team 20+ points a night and better shooting numbers. Frank, I just want some defense, pushing the ball, making good team plays for a rookie point guard.
