Thanks for posting. This was an excellent article. It also just underscores how much the negative Knicks narrative overshadows the truly positive things that we have to look forward to. Knicks actually have collected a nice group of young talent so far. More to come as time moves on. Finds like Dotson are crucial to this rebuild.
He has a lot of tools. It pretty much all comes down to his work ethic.
With Hardaway and Dotson, our 2 guard spot is pretty set for a while.
The 3 is where we need some infusion of young talent, now.

I assume that his ability to come off screens and take a pass for a quick release midrange J was appealing to the Triangle-minded Jackson, but his skill set, especially his shooting range and understanding of how to space himself also makes him a perfect fit in modern offensive schemes.

I still don't get why we are keeping Lee. I want Dotson to get more minutes. Will shedding Lee Sallie is to sign Rondo?

The priority is trading Melo. After that's settled we'll tackle Lee situation.
You know Phil got allot of bad press for saying Melo should go elsewhere. Do you want the Knicks to continue to keep it real and come out and say Lee needs to go to another team? Fans and media have to figure out what they want. Can't cry about everything

If they are using nondisclosure, I have no problem with that. I do think he is completely redundant and will hurt Dotson at this point. The Melo trade of it happens, needs tho happen already, outs just dragging on and narrowing n the window of opportunity for the lesser pieces to be moved, but those later trades are every bit as important as the Melo trade.

Like who? Who were the guys available? I would love to have insight into this pool of players that dont have big contracts, are high EFF% players and are generally great. Obviously the Knicks never look at that pool. You should go work for them!
Lee is a very good player. He's not great at anything (maybe shooting the 3) but he's always good. He plays the right way. He's exactly the guy you want your young players like Dotson and Ntilikina around.
As for next year I suspect as currently constructed (minus Melo) we will start like this next year:
PG Baker
SG Lee
SF Hardaway
PF KP
C OQuinn
That group should space very well, defend with some enthusiasm and hopefully Baker and handle what Jeff wants to run. Then off the bench I run the P&R with Ntilikina and Willy. Lance can sub in for one of the guards if we need size or play some 4 if we go small. Dotson, Harkless, Kuz, etc... will have to earn minutes.
If we stink we go into the lottery looking for another player. If we are decent than Noah comes back after 12 games and hopefully moves the needle a bit. Maybe we get some pieces in the Melo trade. Maybe we move Lee early if Dotson impresses... bottom line is if we arent trading any first rounders and continue to go young I am good with this direction.

I don't hate him, I like him, I was happy with Lee/Dotson at SG. Now that we went and signed THJR, who can't be traded, Lee will cut into Dotson's time. I am actually more interested in seeing if we can flip his cap hold for Rondo, that way we still have vet leadership but also of a more assertive type.

agree... probably Harkless. I may start Lee to respect the veteran. THjr is def a SG, but he can lee are guys that are fine playing in 3 guard sets. Baker didnt shoot well last year, but THjr, Lee and KP on the floor together REALLY space things out on offense.

IMO the Knicks really addressed the perimeter shooting and I have faith in Baker getting his shot going. He's not a bad shooter overall and with work he should come back sharper.
I think i'd start Harmless over Lee. Just rip off the bandaid. These kids need to develop chemistry and confidence.
How many times have we seen players do very well in the Summer League and then fade when the regular season starts. I like Dotson as a prospect, but not because he had a good summer league.
Great write up because it positions him like a future starter/borderline all star? :)
The good news here is that good players don't normally suck in summer league play. Against this levelog competition you should already hold your own if not thrive if you're going to be anything st the NBA level.
