Mills saying all the right things...
“Today is a new day for this franchise. Scott will immediately begin to put together a basketball operations department that is among the best in the league. We will all be united in implementing our strategy, which is to build our team by developing young players, emphasizing athleticism, length and defense. We have several rising young stars in the organization and we expect to add more young talent to this core. Our message to our fans is clear: we will be disciplined in sticking to this strategy, hold our players and staff accountable to the high standards that we have set for ourselves, and deliver results.”

As does Perry...

“As general manager, I will work tirelessly to develop a culture that demands results, commitment and pride from everyone fortunate enough to be associated with our team - from our staff to our players."

The last part from Mills the most important - the discipline to stick to a good strategy. Amen and make it so.

Thats why im confident the trade will happen. Its obvious they want to stick with the youth movement
SocraticBallin22 @ 7/14/2017 7:32 PM
This is music to my ears. I've been waiting for the Knicks front office to say this for close to 20 years. Now whether or not they follow through with it and execute it, is a different story.

We are rebuilding through the draft. We are looking to add young, athletic players to our already young, promising core. We are not trading away future draft picks and looking for quick fixes anymore. We have a clear plan and vision for the future. Finally, we have a GM, who not only is well connected and regarded throughout NBA circles, but who is an evaluator of talent who will build our scouting and development dept, which is critical for a rebuilding program.

And the difference between him and Phil is--although Phil had a clear vision for the team--I do not believe he had the passion and energy (at his age) to put in the hard work and commitment to execute his plan. Moreover, the game had passed him by. He wasn't familiar with the current landscape of the league and refused to adapt to it. Perry has both the experience necessary and the passion and work ethic to execute his plan.

This is probably the second best thing that's happened to the Knicks since drafting KP in recent years. Let's hope they do it the right way.

I just hope the Clarence Gaines stays with us
meloshouldgo @ 7/14/2017 7:38 PM
Athleticism, length and defense. Love it!!
Definitely saying the right things, he even talk about accountability. This season will show is exactly how we hold people accountable.

Interesting that Mills says Scott will build a department, but the Griffin withdrawal was supposedly because he couldn't bring his own guys. Meanwhile put me in the Keep Clarence Crew!

It shows you that the media is full of shit and they fucking lie!!! Maybe Griffin had other ideas different from what Mills wants for the organization. Fuck the media! They do not operate in the Knicks best interest. They look to shame the Knicks every chance they get. I'm fucking sick and tired of it!

I like this signing. Here's what previous employers had to say...

Do we have even 1 athletic player on the roster?
knicks1248 @ 7/14/2017 10:13 PM
I'll believe when i see it, It's like I heard it all before. I'm definitely not falling for the banana in the tail pipe.

Forget about melo and focus on a PG and a athletic wing, they need to flip Lee, and Quin

PhilinLA @ 7/14/2017 10:51 PM
The 7'3" kid who won the SKILLS COMPETITION is pretty athletic.
fitzfarm @ 7/14/2017 11:04 PM
ummm there is a lot of athletic players on the knicks.

KP
Dotson
Timmy
willy
frank
even lee
melo
kuz can throw it down
and Oquin led in blocks for bench players

Yes! It really makes you feel as if we have the right person. Seamless... I also like the fact we habe a numbers guy as team president backing him up. Mills and Perry seem Rio habe similiar temperments as well. All so seamless. I think we finally got it right

nyknickzingis @ 7/15/2017 7:28 AM
Griffin wanted to answer to Dolan, not Mills. Similar to Phil.
Perry is ok with working under Mills, with Mills going to Dolan.

I think the problem with Griffin was that he didn't want to be Grunwald 2.0

Perry did this for the money. 5 years, atleast 10M in guaranteed money, I guess. Great deal. Doesn't matter who you work for, money is money. It's a great opportunity as well. He was answering to people in Sacramento as well. David's stock and track record is a little higher, he can probably land a job at some point where he has full control and answers only to the owner.

I like the guy, I juist hope they in no shape or form consider keeping Melo on the same roster as Hardaway Jr. We need to avoid that mistake. We made that THj contract in hopes he can continue to be a stand out scorer that is gaining confidence. Won't happen with having to share the wing spots with KP and Melo.

Nalod @ 7/15/2017 11:34 AM
Perry will likely build his department with the spare parts already here. That's OK. He can develop it over time. MIlls is better experienced than Vlade. Dolan at least is far away where Sac Owner is still at rook. Griff wants his own thing. Clippers will be next soon enough. Doc I over rated.

Chandler @ 7/16/2017 8:02 AM
Have poked around. This guy never had a successful rebuild and his drafting is mediocre at best. His best pick is oladipo at 2?!

I hope he brings something to the table and that he's at least smart enough to surround himself w real good eyes for talent
