Carmelo is willing to waive his $8M trade kicker to aid Rockets deal.
"In an effort to enhance the chances of a trade from the New York Knicks to the Houston Rockets, Carmelo Anthony is reportedly willing to waive the trade kicker in his contract.
According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski (h/t Ben Rohrbach of Yahoo Sports), waiving the trade kicker would cost Melo $8,125,785, but it would also make it easier to match up salaries in a potential deal.
The trade kicker gives Melo a 15 percent pay raise in the event of a deal, but waiving it would mean Houston would only have to send $21,095,008 in salary to the Knicks in order to make the trade work, per Rohrbach."

Not sure. I think there was a deal already done and then the Knicks pulled out. At that pint I ad not heard any reports about Melo waiving the kicker. We're there reports that he would waive the kicker back then?
It was always assumed he would waive the kicker to go someplace of his choice.
I look at this report as Melos camp letting everyone's know that he's trying and the spin is the Knicks aren't....
I will continue to say the Knicks don't have to do anything but wait for Houston to come up with a trade. Keep sending trades and we well counter or reject.... it's in the Knicks best intrest to get something good out the deal. We don't have to except a kiss or deal just because Melo is anxious about leaving.

No, but it doesn't fit the trail of breadcrumnbs we do know about.
If a previous deal involved his trade kicker, then Houston would have to include Gordon too, which nobody has ever hinted at.
Anderson is the constant in both scenarios. He has to go somewhere, and by all accounts, that's been the hold-up.
They only version of this that mathematically makes sense is if the Knicks were willing to take Gordon before, but not Anderson too.
Removing the kicker just suggests that either Gordon no longer has to be included so the Knicks would then agree to take Anderson, or Houston can trade Ariza and Gordon to the KNicks and not move Anderson at all.
Neither of those scenarios seems likely or consistent with what we've heard so far.
Just invite him to be a leader and be the guy that Kristaps supported in the Phil Jackson era.
He can do whatever he wants, but he won't get traded until Knicks get a deal that is reasonable.

If we are taking back Ryan Anderson's 3year deal, I think 2 1st rounders is fair, just for taking his contract *dat is if they can send us back expirings/unguaranteed deals*
Now for Carmelo Anthony and waiving his trade kicker, we should be getting more, however, we are selling him 50cents to a dollar, he will poison the team and cause drama if he doesnt get what he wants....
So in fairness, with the above stated, we should be getting 3 1st rounders and 2 2nd rounders, however, that isn't likely
It IS NOT our problem that Ryan Anderson doesn't fit our team, they need to find an expiring at their cost if necessary...
Not sure if this is only for Houston since there is NO STATE TAX in Texas/Florida..
However, waiving his NTC would allow Cleveland to send back Frye/Iman Shumpert/unguaranteed deals like Edy Tavaras/Kay Fielder along with future 1st rounders that could be more attractive since Lebron could be leaving

Waiving the Kicker was always in my mind a given. Cp3 did his.
Its very apparent now Knicks got close, Melo sees the light and enticed by the potential of being with CP3 and Harden, something that did not present itself as an option. Clippers was always seen as a potential trade partner but the combonation of their tax situation, Rivers is not all that, and of course Paul's departure puts the end to that.
Its a fluid situation. Melo might be concerned Lebron might bolt next season.
Lets do this: If Rose signs with Cav's, does that facilitate the Kyrie gets traded??? Love? Does Gilbert see the end and won't leverage the team any more so Lebron can leave again next season?
