We traded like 4 starters and 2 lottery picks for Melo . If it costs us Melo and an unprotected pick so be it. Thats not a ridiculous price

First, are you talking about a potential Kyrie trade?
I think that is the definition of opportunistic.
We need to move Melo, and we have a chance to land a 25 year old franchise impacting talent.
Now, patient is whether we splurge and over pay- which we can't do.
If it's Melo and one draft pick and some marginal pieces (Lance Thomas, Courtney Lee, etc.), then I think that is potentially great value.
Once we start adding more draft picks and core players (Willy, KP, Frank, etc.), then you're in starphuck mode and trouble.
Briggs is mostly right. Lakers did a huge trade for Jabber and they had to build on that, which they did magnificently!!! Milwaukee in the Sydney Moncrief era made some noise, but not much...

It's why celts have not gone big yet on a trade.
In fact If I'm Cavs, I'm calling them first about Kylie. Isiah Thomas would have to be part of that deal.

Moz wasn't a starter so the 4 starters statement is definitely wrong. The Knicks only traded one first round pick out right in the Melo trade. They did trade two players taken in the lottery, Felton and Gallo. Moz was third string for a lot of his time in Denver.

They swapped Felton for Billups.
On an even medium deep, good, balanced team, Gallo and WC shouldn't have been both starters.
They effectively traded 1 starter (2, if you prefer to be literal) and 1 lottery pick, since (and correct me if I'm wrong), the swapped picks both turned into lottery picks.
