Frank N
Lee
THJr
C. Randle
R Sessions
Baker
Dotson

Whose sticking ... I'd like to see Dotson stay. Sessions is taking Randle's slot.

I'm thinking that the Knicks will play small a lot more from now on. Just a guess but I can see Jeff wanting to do that to speed up the team.
EnySpree @ 7/28/2017 9:11 PM
Ron Baker technically still hasn't signed his contract.... anybody know what's up with that?

Must be waiting on the Melo Trade.
arkrud @ 7/28/2017 9:54 PM
Some guards will be traded sooner or later.
Lee is the best candidate to get something.
But first we need to figure out what is the need.
This is what next season is for.
Mostly players evaluation and various ways to improve the roster and assets allocation.
I would call this tactical pause season.
Obviously coaching stuff will push players to win every game by executing the system and improving individual skills.
Of course they will win little. But there is no pressure.
Time is finally on Knicks side.
CrushAlot @ 7/28/2017 9:57 PM
I think Lee might get traded and Randle cut or moved as salary filler.

The Knicks still have cap space to use .. Once that's used up then they can turn to exceptions .. Hence the delay ..

dwiley20 @ 7/29/2017 5:10 AM
Randle cut XRM will make team over him
franco12 @ 7/29/2017 9:30 AM
we have 7 guards but how many would actually start on any other team?

Timmy obviously starts for us and stays long term.

But just about everyone else is a question mark.

Frank, Dontson - need to be developed.

Sessions is a stop gap.

Baker, despite his contract, has yet to prove he belongs in the NBA.

Lee is solid, but the wrong side of 30 and likely to be traded

Ramon quietly has had a respectable career. He's averaged 10pts 4 assists for his career. He's averaged as much as 15 pts a game sabe 5.8 assists. Never really averaged 30 minutes a game much. Bus 36 min average is 16 pts and 6 assists.... that's respectable. We run a mix of Timmy, Ramon, Lee, Frank, and Baker and tats what we are respectable with potential for more surrounding Frank and Timmy. Depending on what happens with Melo we could actually get stronger

newyorker4ever @ 7/29/2017 10:42 AM
With the rosters going from 15 to 17 with the two two way deals we can give out i can see us keeping 7 guards and if not 7 then say bye to Randle and go with 6.
blkexec @ 7/30/2017 4:04 AM
7 Guards....But how many with NBA experience as a starter?

3 PGs.....is about average these days.

2 out of 3 PGs are inexperience......Thats below average!

With Horny's style of play, we have the right mix of long and young guards. Don't sleep on Baker, he's a legit 6 man that comes in a turns games around with defense alone. Frank should follow suit. Both will learn from Sessions. Nice pickup!

nyknickzingis @ 7/30/2017 7:41 AM
Not a problem.
For now.

PG:Baker/Ntilikina
SG:Hardaway/Lee
SF:Melo/Dotson

All 4 of our young players are in the rotation.
Sessions is a contingency player in case Baker or Frank struggle, hit a wall or get injured. Sessions is a NBA level player. Can't rely on Randle at point.

If Knicks trade Melo, they will target a young starting 3 (such as Mo Harkless) and that will be your starting 3. We could also see Lee play some 3.

Think the bench will be stronger with Lee coming of it. Dotson should replace what Holiday brought last year.

Paris907 @ 7/30/2017 7:49 AM
Have to disagree:
Dotson is a SG and Lee will be dealt once we've a suitable Sf

Sessions is effective in transition. When Hornacek wants to run, Sessions will be useful. But in the modern "space and pace" type game, he's got some limitations. He was available for the vet minimum for a reason after all.

In "playoff" style ball ( shorter rotations, more focus on ball security and maximizing each possession, matchup chess game, etc) he's a liability. He won't give you defense, long range shooting and spacing and he does a poor job around the rim even though he does a solid job of penetrating the wings to get to the cup.

He's like a homeless man's Rose ( some of the same trade offs, but many are worse)

But he's also a rich man's Rose ( he's not as stupid as Rose on the court, but that's not saying much. There are dying goats who have a better BBIQ than Derrick "MVP" Rose)

Injuries are going to happen. Hornacek likes to use a pair of combo guards in his backcourt. Often, in his ideal offense, he will run out three at a time, if he has the depth. Knicks don't have the guard depth Hornacek needs and tends to ideally use.

I remember in the Layden years it was a glut of forwards. At least the competition should be strong.

And none of the guards are undersized lol. I don't think we had PF taller than 6'6" in those glorious Layden years.

Good point, lol. They would have all been from Utah if Layden had his druthers.

I can't remember the writer but someone wrote an article where they said the knicks are trying to become the first team in NBA history to have a roster exclusively compromised of PG's and PF's.
