Knicks · So many rumors, so many arguments.... nothing really happening (page 1)

EnySpree @ 7/31/2017 4:11 AM

As of right now the roster is :

Pf:KP
Sf:Melo
C :Willy
Pg:Ramon Sessions
Sg:Tim Hardaway

Courtney Lee, Frank, Noah, Kuz, Lance, KOQ, Randle, Dotson... possibly Baker.

What happens next?

meloshouldgo @ 7/31/2017 6:29 AM
You forgot Dotson

Next: I hope it's a Melo trade that gets us picks
But: It may well be Kyrie trade that loses picks

If we end up with Kyrie/THJR backcourt, KP is good as gone in two years. There's no way he will be the focus of the offense. So there are choices to be made risks to be traded off, basically they have the assets and the timing for a full reset. What they'll do is anybody's guess.

Yeah forgot the rookie... we also have that rookie center on the hybrid contract.

About the Kyrie/THJr backcourt... if KP leaves because he's not the focal point Then we should trade him now. The days of getting a singular savior franchise guy is over. KP "liked" a pic with with Kyrie in a Knicks jersey one instagram. That's need in the world ww live in now. So KP probavly would love the opportunity to play with Kyrie. The potential of that crew would be fun to watch.... also tough to match up with especially if Hornacek does his thing and everyone buys in.

IDK - Rose said he would be "honored" to play with Melo and KP, their behaved like one of them didn't exist. Can't read that much into s Instagram "like"

nyknickzingis @ 7/31/2017 8:00 AM
I'd go with this rotation

Porzingis/Hernangomez
Melo/Porzingis
Thomas/Lee
Hardaway/Dotson
Baker/Ntilikina

Depth Chart
C Noah
C/PF O'Quinn
SF/PF Kuzminskas
SG/PG Randle
PG Sessions

Melo would need to understand that the team around him needs to develop and they need to play active defense. Ball movement. He starts at 4, but would have a minutes restriction of about 28. Rest of his minutes at 4, go to KP. KP plays 5 and 4. Willy comes off the bench. We did this last year a few games.

At some point Melo is moving on. For the mean time nothing wrong with having more talent and less load on KP, Willy, Frank. The main hurdle is THj. Can't see him maximize his potential with Melo. Melo's not a bad dude. I can't see him tank. I think he will give a decent honest effort. He knows his trade value will not improve unless he plays well. Knicks will make it clear by that point, they aren't trading him for Ryan Anderson and a draft pick. I think at some point up until trade deadline, we get a better deal from Houston or another team.

Cartman718 @ 7/31/2017 8:19 AM
what if it's melo, kyrie, houston all in the same trade.
ryan anderson + lots of picks to cleveland, melo to houston, kyrie to knicks
Nalod @ 7/31/2017 8:39 AM
Nalod has a hard time puttng value on Kylie. Paul George wants LA and is unrestricted. Kyrie I think would extend with Knicks.
But I dont see him in that same light.
dacash @ 7/31/2017 8:47 AM
most of that wasblog crap and nothing concrete. guys showing up out of the woidworks making statements. I think in the east we have an ok roster not noisy but if they but in workable. melo will be traded by deadline which is good instead of messing up a trade getting nothing holding out getting others anxious. imagine when gs goes on a rampage Houston will get pretty desperate.
GustavBahler @ 7/31/2017 8:58 AM
They're still trying to figure out what to do with Ryan Anderson. I would tell Melo that they gave it their best shot to send him to Houston. If he wants to play for a contender next season, he has to expand his wish list. The alternative is coming back to NY.

I made a thread about that and fell prey to the UK firing squad. It's one thing if there was a trade to be made, but no ist wants Ryan Anderson. The teams that are rumored to be the 3rd and 4th teams in a trade all would rather take a shot at getting Melo than helping a rival. I dont blame them.

It for nothing, The Knicks are conducting business as they should. Conservative and sticking to the new plan.

I agree that the Knicks are conducting business as they should. I thought the Pacers and Bulls could have gotten more for George and Butler. I also thought Sac might have gotten more for Cousins. Tomorrow is August 1st. There is plenty of time I think something will get done with Melo and Houston. Also, if Houston is sending out two first round picks for someone to take Anderson, maybe the Knivks should take that and move on.

That is simply the bottom line

knicks1248 @ 7/31/2017 10:15 PM
The Rockets dangled Ryan Anderson’s contract in multi-team packages but found no takers.

General manager Daryl Morey stockpiled a handful of non-guaranteed pacts to apply to an Anthony trade for mathematical purposes but Sunday released one of those players, Jarrod Uthoff, who had $200,000 due this week if he remained on the roster. Shawn Long, Tim Quarterman and Isaiah Taylor are still non-guaranteed chips on Houston’s roster.

Ryan and d-leaguers, and maybe one other half ass player. So the 3rd team is probably Supposed to supply the knicks with a young starter, while taking Andersons Contract..

Good luck

That's not nothing new... that's always been the parameters... it's just finding that young starter a team is willing to trade four Ryan Anderson

Jmpasq @ 8/1/2017 6:43 AM
Yep Melo isn't going anywhere. There is no deal out there that makes sense for us so either Melo widens the list or he will be a Knick. Hornaceck is going to have to have a quick hook with Anthony if he refuses to play team basketball or show effort on defense he needs to sit him down. This has to be a decision backed by the GM and Dolan or its not going to work. One things for sure the Knicks should not take back Ryan Anderson unless it includes unprotected picks far in the future. If they are willing to part with a deal that starts with Eric Gordon then we can talk

Thats never going to happen, Melo will be a Knick unless he wants to go to Portland. The Knicks want Harkless bad for some odd reason.

The news on the Carmelo Anthony trade front is there is no new news on the Carmelo Anthony trade front. Regardless of what unsubstantiated rumors fly out of Houston fans’ Twitter account.

The Knicks and Rockets remain at a stalemate, reports Marc Berman of the New York Post — just as Anthony is about to do a number of public appearances.

Tuesday night, Anthony will be in a place he cherishes. Not Houston, but Baltimore, where he will host The Basketball Tournament — a month-long event that is down to its final four…
A stalemate has ensued as sources indicate Anthony only wishes to waive his no-trade clause to go to the Rockets. Not even Cleveland, which is in turmoil, is good enough for Anthony as the Cavaliers are dealing with Kyrie Irving’s trade demand. The Knicks’ management tandem of Steve Mills-Scott Perry claim it won’t trade Anthony to Houston unless it cobbles together a solid deal that makes sense for the Knicks’ future. Nothing has materialized.

Anthony is likely to speak to the media at one of these events. Maybe. Even if he does, the man is polished and will not say anything particularly inflammatory.

The Knicks need leverage in these negotiations, and their one threat is they will bring Anthony into training camp and start the season with him. They may not want to, but they must have that threat to force Houston to work harder to find a third team (or fourth, someone to take on Ryan Anderson‘s contract), or to get Anthony to accept a trade to another team where a deal could get done. If Houston thinks Mills/Perry and the Knicks will eventually cave, they can wait out the summer. And that’s where we stand. Which is why the Knicks made a recent move:

In fact, a source told The Post the signing of veteran point guard Ramon Sessions partly was due to him connecting better with Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis than did Derrick Rose, who left for Cleveland via free agency.

The Knicks still want to make this trade, but they are wise not to do a deal just to get it done. They can and should be patient.

I love what this article said. One major rule of negotiating is to make it be known that you are willing to step away from the table if things don't meet your expectations. Instead of doing a bad trade I rather keep Melo and trade him at the deadline if he or a team becomes desperate. If we can't trade him at the deadline he will probably decline his option next year and leave anyway. So we won't be stuck with another teams bad contracts.

He is not opting out of his last big contract, aside from that, no team will be able to offer him 27 mill until he actual becomes a UFA 2 yrs, thast when teams will have $$, almost every mid to above avg team is capped out for the next (you guess it)2 season.
