Knicks · Ny post " Knicks drafted frank as point guard of future" (page 1)

BRIGGS @ 7/31/2017 12:11 PM
Well that is atleast a good sign Frank is going no where
I know that some people like dennis smith and he did look good-- but I think Frank might end up as the better team player capable of gary Payton like defense.

I would still be willing to trade for Kyrie using Carmelo Kuz and Oquinn with a top 10 restricted pick-- I don't see any team that will give the cabs a better offer-- I might be willing to go to top 5 if the cavs wait until 2019

newyorknewyork @ 7/31/2017 12:36 PM
Even if they are willing to trade Frank. Its good to put out articles like this as it raises his value in terms of teams not thinking that Knicks only drafted Frank for Phil and that he could be a throw in for star players. Make it known that he alone holds high value to the Knicks.

where is the article your referring to Briggs?

Found in the Post article on Rose...the actual article isn't about Frank, but why Rose did not want to stay with the Knicks given their plans for him...

which is why I asked. So right after the draft starts FA. However Frank being the "PG of the future" may impact the decision to bring back Rose, but it has no relevance to a possible Kyrie trade, which was not on the table when the these quotes were made.

Assuming the Knicks wouldnt trade Frank for Kyrie because of this tabloid quote is about as big a stretch as it gets. I dont think there is any relevance here.

Everything is really quiet now.
Its like the Mooch took care of ALL the leaks!!!
No names being floated out for potential Kyrie trade. Until knicks say "We not involved", or "Frank will not be part of any conversation of a trade", then all but perhaps KP can be in a trade.
I know some fans can't contain themselves with the potential Melodrama of a deal, but the fact is its all really being done quite well.
with 3 or 4 teams potentially involved its good many players won't have to deal with trade rumors.
Melo seems to have gone into private mode, KP is in Latvia, and all is quiet until they tweet about themselves.
When something happens, Im sure Crush will let us know. That is unless Knicks1248 knows something Wojo don't

I know it's far from set in stone and would also require luck in the draft (would have to be top 5 minimum possibly #1) but Frank would be such a great PG next to both Luka Doncic and Timmy. He could work off ball and be the secondary ball handler while defending the opposing PG meaning Luka can focus on being the primary ball handler and defending the opposing SF. Also as a 3rd or 4th offensive option his ability to shoot the 3 well when open would make sure he wouldn't be a liability on the court either.

thats the thing... when you are a big guard who can play the point, shoot the 3 and defend multiple spots you look good next to EVERYONE.

I don't want to give up Ntlikina in any deal. Honestly I'm not a big Irving fan I see a huge drop off in numbers if he becomes a Knick. Irving is a good player whose game gets elevated by the mere presence of LeBron. I feel that we as Knicks fan tend to overrate players on opposing teams I happen to believe that Irving is being overrated here. He isn't what this team needs. The Knicks need to develop the young players first and in a year or two they can think about adding someone to the core that will compliment them.

Kyrie is going to come here and just do what Melo did and Marbury did. I'm praying Kyrie doesn't end up here in NY. This is just more of the same.

I would take Kyrie as a hybrid guard-- I'm not going to over rate him but not going to under rate him either.
Carmelo Kuz oquinn and a 2019 # 1 pick restricted to 10 is my top offer( that offer is deep and fair)

Assets 100% off table
Willy G. kP. Frank N

Good luck convincing Melo. I'll take Kyrie too but not at the expense of Ntlikina, KP or Willie.

I'd do this deal. but it says more about me not loving Kyrie. If he wants to be "The man", then we'd have to think he will see that KP becomes a god, Frank grows up nice, and willy is fed as well!
As for Cav's, they get Melo to replace some of the scoring but the fact is I doubt Melo would go there unless he he plans on opting out if Lebron leaves.
Bascially Melo can chose the money or winning.
Quite frankly, Cleve has to be able to do better.

nixluva @ 7/31/2017 5:48 PM
I don't think the market for Kyrie is that robust. The Cavs seem to think he's gonna bring a fortune but I don't see it. The one thing that you can get in almost any draft is a Combo Guard. Kyrie is a pretty good one but i'd imagine teams have to feel that they can get one on the cheap in the draft if that's what they're after.

Even the Knicks don't actually NEED Kyrie. Sure they'd be happy to add his scoring but NEED is a different thing. What teams NEED Kyrie right now? If the Knicks don't trade for Kyrie they just carry on with their already in progress rebuild. What kind of team is out there where Kyrie is the final piece or fits a certain timeline that team has? PHX, Denver or Minny but at what price. Do they give up huge assets for Kyrie and if so for what reason? Boston has the assets for a deal but already has Isaiah.

briggs loves creating trades sending melo to places he has said he won't waive his no-trade clause for.

HOUSTON is the only option.

Counting on Frank for extended minutes would be a mistake on multiple fronts... first off, I wouldn't expect any actual winning if he played 25+mpg. Second off, it would probably hinder his chances of developing. I certainly hope they give him time because while he went up against decent completion he really didn't play all that much. I hope they don't rush because he has the size and length to eventually be a nice piece but I just don't see it this year

Ummm, Frank probably played as much as the top 3 draft picks COMBINED. He's ready to be a starter for us from day one, even at his ridiculously young age. He's got great fundamentals.

the main thing is that he was getting his minutes vs. pros. Grown men in the their 30s. That team that beat Strausberg would embarrass any NCAA team. It would be a men vs. boys.

Remember last time Ntilikina went up against his peers he was the MVP of the tourney and dominated. Now he's coming to the Knicks after playing in a pro league where he had trememdous pressure to play mistake free BB or lose his minutes. Not to mention he played a key role on a team that came up just short of winning the league title.

I think starting is tough to ask, but I fully expect him to get 25+ a night off the bench playing some 1,2 and 3. Just go play basketball.

Instead of NTC meaning No Trade Clause, think of it meaning Not Trading Clause. When approached from a different angle, it takes on a whole, new perspective. What if the attitude from Knicks management was that "we are not trading Carmelo"? Trust me, doors would open.

1) Seeing as how you've seen him play so much, I'd love an assessment of what you think Frank does well or doesn't do well

2) I had no idea 18.3mpg was a lot of minutes... here I was thinking 30mpg was a lot. Oh wait, 18mpg isn't much at all. Is 32 games really that much more than college? Oh wait, no its not

to be fair it was 45 games and that was only Euroleague.. arent there Euroball games also? Some other bracket? Although his minutes were only about 20mpg I remember reading he played almost 2x what the average NCAA player does.

I think he will be better than most think, I think he can be a nice spark off the bench running the P&R with Willy in the 2nd unit. Probably about the same minutes.. 20.
