10 yr run, finish 200 games over 500..is there like a better manager available. I can't imagine what went into the decision to not bring him back?

And it was a year where the team vastly exceeded expectations

I am reading the decision was for a few reasons:
- Joe might be burned out from the NYC spotlight and needed a fresh start
- The Yankees really want to embrace advanced analytics and want someone to champion that
- They are looking for someone that is younger to better relate to our prospects
Here's what concerns me, especially about the third point. Yes, we might end up with the next Dave Roberts, but it is probably more likely that we end up with the next Matt Williams

at this point, he would have had to win it all, I don't even think a ws appearance would have made a difference.

+1
Whoever we get, he has to win the ring or leave immediately. Not a great job, but certainly a great challenge.
Sad for Joe, not a fan of the decision
the yanks are adding STANTON,
3,4,5 hitters
Judge
Stanton
sanchez
I think they combine for like 150 homeruns last season..lol

Wow if this goes through....whats interesting is both Stanton and Judge play right field. Not a bad problem to have....and before anyone says the Yanks are starphucking, the Marlins are trying to give him away. Yanks would be idiots to turn this deal down...

Yeah. Not sure he hits as many HR in Yankees Stadium but it's still a deal you have to do. This probably means Ellsbury and Clint Frazier won't play much.
I hope Judge is fully recovered from surgery by the start of the season.

lots of power, but lots of righties...
Judge will also be the #2 hitter... that's the trend
I think it's far more likely that the order is
2 - Judge
4 - Stanton
6 - Sanchez

I saw that suggestion too. Do you really have to split the all up? How bad are they against righties (can't look up the #s now)?
What do the yankees have to send to Miami? Should not be much, he has a NTC and has rejected ST. Louis and San Fran. Yanks are in position of power and really risk is that big starphuch contract!
Does this eat up Bryce Harper Money?

Michael Kay was speculating that we're sending Ellsbury, Gardner, and Castro.
No one bumped the thread for this but it's also big news that they hired Boone. I liked Girardi was disappointed they let him go but I'm happy with Boone. He's a former player who talks a lot about using analytics.
Also Masahiro opted in. I hope Sonny remembers how to pitch!

Fuck Michael Kay... if we could ship Ellsbury that would be awesome

That was a ridiculous speculation from Kay. No way Miami wants that much money coming back. Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that the Marlins will receive Starlin Castro, Jorge Guzman and Jose Devers in the Giancarlo Stanton trade. Guzman was a pitcher we got in the McCann trade. Good prospect but pitched in low A ball. We still will be able to get under luxury tax this yr which is great. Reset the tax level which is important, especially for next yrs class. I guess we are out of the Harper sweepstakes.

Kay's been un-listenable on the radio since he stopped doing Yankee radio with Homer Sterling.
(This is more a reaction to him leaving me with over a decade of listening to Suzin Walldman...
Imagine Cash pulling off Stanton AND Harper!

Greed is good. LMAO

it's certainly possible that the maybe someone has better numbers against RHPs than I am assuming. I have not looked at the numbers. That said, figure by July the top competition in the division is going to load up on righty pitchers. So, I really think it will be necessary to approach the lineup in a more traditional way, and that would be by splitting the power up with lefties.

The Yanks managed to hold onto Estevan Florial. I'm sort of surprised they were able to keep Miami from demanding him in a deal. From what I've seen of Florial, the kid is completely legit.
Base question since someone is going to sign JD Martinez to a fat deal soon, is how much of a difference would Stanton and JD Martinez be for the actual cost difference.....
Admitted Met fan here.
LAst season the Yanks were likable. Young team finding its way, etc.
Now, they are the evil empire again. That and the Met ownership's total mishandling of the team will make for a very long off season and 2018.
