Knicks · I'm so depressed... (page 1)

Well, not really. But watching Game 4 of the 1993 Knicks Pacers series on NBA TV right now and, while the NBA game has changed to favor offense and has gained in popularity over the years, basketball used to be so much better when you could actually play defense.

Whatever we need to do, we need to bring back defense to the Knicks. Regardless that it's been a billion years since our last championship, defense is priority #1.

Our players in the 90's were TWO WAY players. That's why I can't accept mentally having Melo OR Kyrie on this team. TWO WAY or the highway my brothas. Non-negotiable.

Those were the glory days as a knicks fan. I took them for granted because they never won a title. Had i known the 2000s would be so miserable i would have cherished the 90s knicks more

They are the reason I grew up as a two way player. I had a young dude 5 yrs ago in shock how good I was on both ends. It's like that was the norm back then....now it's rare.

When championship teams are averaging 120 points in a final series, you either get with the times or stay stuck in the pass. Defense is a absolute joke in today's NBA. When I saw 12 combine possessions result in a 3 point attempt in the finals,that was a clear indication of what matters... SCORING.

Its funny because NBA TV showed the 94 series between the Knicks a bulls yesterday, and I didnt see any player camp behind the 3 point line, the half Time..score was 36 Knicks 34 bulls, that a 1st qtr score in today's game.

I think the 90s Knicks were skewed towards being defensive players but I definitely agree with your point - we need guys that play on both sides of the ball. The good news? WE found those guys under rocks... Starks, Mason, Childs, Ward... or at thrift stores likes Harper and Rivers and sometimes we just traded our old car in for a brand new Camby

Mathematically speaking, two way players are worth more:

X = defense
Y = offense
Z = player value

a(X) + b(Y) = Z

So if you just get a bunch of B and C students in both defense and offense all of a sudden MSG releases a song about you
