Knick roster is at 15 plus one two way contract if they sign Beasley.

Had Anthony Randolph-1, and Courtney Lee-22 from that draft, too?

Galinari too

Assumed that one...

Of course Randolph was #14, not #1.

The guy has been around for what seems like forever. He's actually quite capable when he's mentally engaged. You try to see if you can get him to Buy In and if he does he can be a useful player.

funny how I signed him in my franchise mode in NBA 2k17 two months ago..

He played well for a Miami a couple years back.

I like the move. Melo will be gone so he can fill a role of scoring.

Another me first, no defense one dimensional chucker. The focus on young, high iq two way players is alive and well. Vet min - it is what it is.

Collison is a great option to split time with a rookie PG.
Absolutely--even if we dont draft a PG hes a good option.
I really like Beasley in unit #2. He has been a sleeper---more mature of a person and his game is following. In a league dominated by scoring--hes a GREAT 6th man.

Maybe he'll be a D. Williams type wild-card for us. I was not a D.Will fan before we got him, but was pleasantly surprised and happy with him here.

Beasley has been a major disappointment, and I've never liked him, but he's our guy now, and hopefully, he shows us something.

Could end up being a fan favorite if things work out right for him.

Well in comparison to Melo he had a Defensive Rating of 109 to Melo 113 and shot a TS% of 58.4% to Melo 53.5%. He can't stay healthy but otherwise he's not as bad as you might think. Can't really complain for a guy you're paying the minimum.

If anyone watched the Bucks lay with Beasley you say real improvement. If he didnt get hurt--he was on his way to a contract for 7-8 mm per. We got him for vet minimum. Hes a guy who can score but was starting to pick up the game in other areas. 28 is still pretty young. Wish I was 28! Hell Id work at Wallmart to be 28 again!!

unlike Melo he is not ball stopper, and much more driving

I didn't complain about the price, I acknowledged that for the vet min it's ok. I complained about our so called stated position of young, high iq, two way players. If we are going to justify fit against that standard by comparing to Melo there's no point having a discussion.

He has shot the ball great the last 2 years but that's a small sample of shots and games. It was only 76 games with half the playing time of a starter. That's like half a season of good shooting for a typical starter. It's enough to give some optimism but it's not clear if his shooting will be like that or closer to his career numbers. I'm fine with signing him for the vet min. There are legit reasons he didn't get more and we didn't even hear about other teams wanting him for the vet min but I still like the signing and will give it a B.

Edit: I believe the difference in their defensive ratings is driven by the difference in their rebounding rates. That definitely is important but it's not giving information about how they defend the player their guarding.

One year vet min = to no long term damage. But the more we have these types of players on the roster, assuming Melo stats the worse it is for KP's development or the chances of a KP centric offense. If you accept our starting 4 is KP/Willy/THJR/Frank and now Melo it's not offense that we need. For vet min backup this deal in itself is ok, it's the focus and type of players we keep going after that bothers me. He isn't young, isn't high iq and not known to be a team player. While each individual deal may look acceptable in it's own in a vacuum the overall outcome will not be in keeping with the the goal.

I'm all for having Beasley and giving him a chance. My question is: If, according to articles, Beasley has turned his life around off the court; been a good locker room influence; and provides good scoring power off of the bench; why hasn't he stuck with some of the other teams he has played for?? Last year Milwaukee.?? And why hasn't a contender signed him. Yeah, poor defense. But strong scoring off of the bench is needed by almost every team.
Welpee @ 8/9/2017 6:43 AM
I've never been a fan of Beasley. Always thought he was an overrated, knucklehead dating back to his college days. Maybe he has matured since his early days in the league. We seemed to have had decent success with these type of signings in the past. One year at the vets minimum is not worth me losing sleep over. Hope he can help.
