No doubt Z-Bo is Memphis choice when you roll with pounds of weed in the trunk!!!

Wins and losses tell the story. Few dispute Melo is disliked. If he is a cancer, he is a cancer for Management.
The guy give you keys to the midtown gym, road trip to Puerto Rico, and lots of hats.
I hope rockets up their offer!! Why not, the guys are going to love melo!!!!
I like Melo, its just time to go!

The contract and his skills is why some fans look at him as leader, which is stupid.

He's not leader, never was a leader, doesn't have the mental make up to be a leader. He's robin, with no batman, that's his role..as soon as some can come to grips with that (which I have 10 yrs ago) they would stop comparing him to other leaders.

Did you ever look at allan Houston as a leader?

For 10 years you came to this conclusion? The burden you must carry with you must be awful!

It has crossed my mind if Phil gambled on Howard and Rondo over Noah and Rose.
LivingLegend @ 8/18/2017 3:54 PM
Someone wake me when Melo is voted easiest to coach.

It's apparently easy to be your teammates "besty" while at the same time you don't give full defensive effort, never run the floor, never cut/move and ignore the entire offensive system....all at the same time making your coach turn and walk away in disgust.

It would have been nice if someone other than Grunwald tried to put a team around him that gave the Knicks a chance. The formula, a reasonable point guard and good shooters around Melo worked whenever it was put in place. He is getting older now but the roster composition follies that have gone on in ny the past 4 years is the biggest reason the Knicks haven't been contenders.

Yawn. Can you please name the years the Knicks built around him, with good pieces?

Hof it's waste of time of trying to convince them..

they look at that time JH flung his hands in the air after a ill advised shot by melo, and G Karls rant(trying to sell his book) and came to the conclusion that melo disrupts triangle plays..

Nalod @ 8/18/2017 5:07 PM
The fact our asset base was weak after moving out Isiah's contracts, then the players/picks needed to make the Melo trade all left a very thin base to build for melo.
Building around melo "better" would have been good. But shouldn't that have been considered at the time you make the trade? Or was selling tickets around a star player and perhaps being good enough to make playoffs the goal???
Dolans decision.
I agree, but instead of blaming Grunfeld for not doing a good job, one has to look at the base he had to work with. And look at it at the time decisions had to be made instead of hindsight.
Its lazy to do so otherwise.
Its not tennis or golf, Melo is not a single entitiy.
But to think Melo is a victim is kind of weak.
To blame him solely is lazy as well.
Blame the owner, walsh, Grunwald, The coaches and the players.
It does not matter what Boeheim says, the truth is wins vs. loses and the potential of each team.
And for gods sake stop with the "54 win" as if it was some highwater mark that we prematurely blew up! when your core was Rashweed, Kurt and Kidd as the base never to return the team was not solid.
They had some really good streaks, finished strong on Melo's incredible 6 weeks stretch then melted physically and mentally in the glory of a second round.
Melo is a very likable person, team mate and fans like him. Coach's don't unless you let him hold the ball, but there just comes a time when a team and its star player must decide when to move on.

You just said you don't really care about Melo, so whats to convince of? The on court record speaks for itself.

Melo is a cancer for any team that wants to win. Ask Grunfeld, Jackson, Donnie Walsh, Lin, Mike D'Antoni, probably Stoudemire, George Karl etc.

Anyone who prevented Melo from running ISO and allowing 20-25 shots a game was a castaway by Dolan. Worse is the influence on younger players like KP who quickly learn to oppose management.

fitzfarm @ 8/18/2017 5:36 PM
Melo is a exceptional player and person off the court I'm sure he is a wonderful teammate, maybe even helps guide some of the young players through the beginning of there NBA career.

With that said we all know where his faults are.

1. he is a ball stopper the motion of the offense stops when the ball is in his hands. He is a offensive chemistry killer. You can see the expressions on his teammates faces when he chucks over double and triple teams, they all have the WTF face.

2. Melo's body language on defense is awful 90 percent of the time. the smerks when he gets beat or smiling with the team down 25 points . Superstars don't do that they hold there teammates accountable and are the hardest working player on the team exp look at lebron and Durant

GustavBahler @ 8/18/2017 5:38 PM
Im glad to hear this. Not because of the endless debates about him. Because it might help lower the temperature, in case Melo comes back. Hope Wade getting bought out is the break the Knicks need.

At this point this topic has become boring and uninteresting. Probably be the last comment I spend on it since everyone including Melo is ready to move on. Calling it like it is the Knicks made plenty of mistakes prior, during, and after the Melo trade. They thought they were building around Melo when they invested in Tyson and thought they could plug in Baron Davis and Mike Bibby. If they switched the investment more towards guard play maybe the results would differ. Who knows. Calling it like it is Melo played poorly last season. The Knicks aren't going anywhere within the 2 years left on his contract. Building for the future is the correct course of action.

The most important thing is that the Knicks have shown signs of learning from their mistakes. The past is the past, lets focus on the future.
