Knicks · frank Nitty gets zero votes (page 2)
Nalod wrote:Lazy ass OP.First off start showing the kid respect and use his name. Ntilikina. WTF is "Nitty"?
Then take your meds like the bottle says instead of using us as your emotional tampon every time you need a hug.
Then take a breath and think? Gee, What do all these kids have in common?
Answer: EACH OTHER!!! AAU? Agents? They all either go to Kentucky or Duke?
They all stick together.
Then Use your mind and ask yourself: "Gee, I wonder how past polls worked out"?
2015-16. Relevant cuz of the unicorn. They had for rookie of the year
1. Jahlil Okafor, Philadelphia -- 41.9 percent
2. Stanley Johnson, Detroit -- 19.4 percent
3. Karl-Anthony Towns, Minnesota -- 12.9 percent
T-4. Emmanuel Mudiay, Denver -- 9.7 percent
D'Angelo Russell, L.A. Lakers -- 9.7 percent
Others receiving votes: Willie Cauley-Stein, Sacramento; Trey Lyles, Utah
Anyone missing???? Maybe the number 4 pick?
Here is the Rookie of the year final three:Winner: Karl-Anthony Towns, Minnesota Timberwolves
Second: Kristaps Porzingis, New York Knicks
Third: Nikola Jokic, Denver NuggetsWhat happened? The Euro's didn't get any preseason cred. Knicks1248, did you cry too when we drafted KP?
Now That I showed you how to do it, why not look at other years and then tell us things instead of preseason panicking.
and please understand ROY is not always a career maker either. Some years the kids are really young. NTilikina would be going into his freshman year at college.
Draft is not guarantee of anything. We have lots of history in the NBA of top picks busting. Its part of the process. Few enter the league as a sure thing and meet or exceed the hype.
Supreme roast and very intelligent. I'm a fan as of today.

Arguably, one of the most ignorant conclusions you could have reached.
Already got shot down by folks here who concluded, quite logically, that not having seen Frank play in college or in the SL just might have hurt his chances in this survey.
But hey...don't let logic interfere with your position...right?
Oh...by the way, are the fans of ALL the teams which picked ahead of Dallas apoplectic over this survey? Everybody had a chance to pick Smith, one of the older players chosen in the lottery, I think, and about 2 years older than our guy. Are they up in arms over THEIR team not choosing him, since he seems to be a lock for ROY?
Might want to give Frenchie some time...no?

Our track record over the last decade suggests that our FO can't judge talent but i agree lets see nitty in action before we declare him a bust.

basically you called yourself ignorant by saying what I said in different words.
I already said other rookies have little to no knowledge of who he really is, neither do we, so wtf are you talking about?
In fact, we really don't know what any of the rookies will amount to

I really can't accept a 10 year stretch which covers several different Regimes. Also the Knicks have done well the last 3 years in assessing young prospects you can't be 100% but the Knicks have shown they can find young talent.
2× French League Best Young Player (2016, 2017)
FIBA Europe Under-18 Championship MVP (2016)Medals
Men's basketball
Representing France
FIBA Europe Under-16 Championship
Gold medal – first place 2014 Latvia
FIBA Europe Under-18 Championship
Gold medal – first place
Whatever Nitty's going to eventually become I think it's fair to say he excelled so far to the degree possible for his age.

Nice pivot. Fail.
Your thinking "I Don't know him, the rookies don't know him, so the KNicks don't either".
Thus, your smarter than PHil, Mills, Gaines and Mark Hughes. The core of your tantrum was a popularity poll that with a little time you'd see is not foretelling at any level.
I don't read everyone's coments because they are predictable to some extent. I still follow yours though. You can double dumb down like no one I have seen.

That would've been true no matter who they picked, including Smith.

No.
"im going to be livid if this kid is a major project"
That was your main point for creating this thread - that the rookies vote for ROY supported the idea that the Knicks, who you argue do not have a good track record with picks, made a mistake drafting Ntilikina.
This is obvious to anyone who has read it, as is the fact that you're now trying to walk it back.

Thing is KP and Willy made All Rookie 1st team in consecutive years. Empirical evidence suggests the Knicks current regime was able to assess talent. No guarantees of course but it's not true that they've not shown ability to assess talent. Hopefully Nitty will continue the trend. Tho at 19 he's a bit behind the rest of his class. Time will tell.

Behind? When the others were playing in high school and getting AAU accolades along with slithering visits by Coach Cal or validated by Coach K, Frank been playing proball with Men and succeeding. He has been tested at a higher level. What would NTilikina's hype be if he was going into his freshman year NOW?
Frank is not a bit behind, he is a year ahead. What we don't know is his upside.
Im not suggesting he is sure thing by any stretch.
As for Knicks drafting KP, we were fortunate that Philly and Lakers did not recognize his talents. I agree it was not a stretch that we pick him at the 4. Willy was a stroke of good opportunity for us!!!
Good scouting creates opportunities. Others scouted Willy? But they didn't pick him.

I think Smith would have been called the steal of the draft no matter who took him. But it would have been interesting. Is he considered the nextSteve Francis if the Knicks take him?

you suggesting I'm taking a shot at the FO for their failing history when it comes to rookies, drafting them and developing. That's completely transparent, everyone knows this just by taking a look at the roster.
Now to suggest the knicks did a top notch job or a awful job selecting frank would be premature. We can only judge something on what has already transpired.
I'm not going to give the FO too much credit for KP, because he was the best left in his class when he was select(a straight no brainer), yes they did a solid job with willy, but I can say the same thing about landry fields, and tony douglas who had very solid rookie seasons..BUT WHAT HAPPEN TO THEM THE FOLLOWING SEASONS?
I'm pretty optimistic about franks potential, I just have little faith in the development process.

Smith would have been a great pick for knicks. It demonstrates a bit of restrain for us to have drafted as we did. Ntilikina build is at just turned 19 is compelling. The kid is not a Dante Exum/Dennis Schroeder type. he is going to be thicker. Fans hopefully will be patient with him.

If KP was a straight no brainier. Then why was he booed on draft night?

No I'm not. As you note that isn't in question. I don't need to suggest it. And it isn't the point.
Now to suggest the knicks did a top notch job or a awful job selecting frank would be premature. We can only judge something on what has already transpired.
But that is exactly the point your OP. That Ntilikina not getting any votes by his peers supports the idea of the Knicks made a mistake. Stop pretending that wasn't your intention.

FANs don't select picks
frank would have gotten booed too, but since the knicks did a good job with their previous foreign pick, they spared them..
people are scared off by the unknown, and unless you did some diligent research on either of those players, the avg person is going to be like who the fck is this guy?

Knicks have not done well as of late with players who have character concerns and injury issues on their scouting report. We just don't seem to hold the environment to handle that. Dallas is perfect for Smith. They have quality vets in Dirk, Matthews, Barnes. They have a HOF Coach. And Dallas isn't NY. He can also get cool with Steph Curry through Seth.
Frank is known for work ethic, only cares about basketball and nothing else, perfect teammate, professional attitude, oversized for the position. Exactly what NY needs at this moment as they try to build their foundation.
