According to reports Knicks taking a look at both Point guards. Goodwin fits profile for youth and size and played for Horny in Phoenix. Sounds like we may be giving Randle the bums rush.

Goodwin would be good for his defense and getting to the basket but has no shot at all and J.Jack is a decent player for a #2 or even #3 PG but could probably win the starting job on this team.

Are we trying to win or not? Jarrett Jack is a winner and future coach - he elevates mediocre teams into legit playoff teams. Now if we want a lottery pick next year, he's definitely not the type of player to go after.

I'm not sure Jack has enough left in the tank to make a difference on the court. Age and injuries hampered in recent years. But you couldn't find a better mentor for Frank. He and sessions would provide a nice veteran mix.

Should be a competitive camp is we're keeping 6. There are 6 signed but If Lee is packaged and or if one Goes to developmental D, it opens it up.

Jack: Torn ACL in 2015-2016 (Nets) Torn meniscus 2016-2017 (Portland - only 2 games!)
I suspect he was out all year because he chose to repair the meniscus instead of trim it. He has potential to be back to close to 100%. He'd be the prototypical perfect tutor for Ntilikina (and the team) because he'll teach them how to win. Throughout his career, he always ended up closing games (often in 3 guard lineups), doing the little things that make the difference between wins and losses.
He's also perfect in that after missing the bulk of the past 2 seasons, he's a big injury risk and will likely miss chunks of games.
If you think about it, his injury profile isn't that different from Derrick Rose's... and will be more of a positive influence.
Looks like he should be awesome but doesn't get the chance. Kind of in that Lance Stephenson or Deshawn Stephenson mold. A beefy 6'5", should physically dominate, killer athleticism, yet something is missing.

Nate hasn't done anything wrong besides being going while with the Knicks. Since then he's been nothing but a hero to short people and underdogs. He hasn't lost his athleticism... He's still jumping out the gym. Still can shoot the fuck out the ball. Still a world class ball handler. He's still a pest on defense... He's still protecting the rim with block shots. Still strong as hell. He's not a knuckle head. Hasn't ever had any problems off the court.

I like jack. however, it is overkill if we got sessions to get jack. jack is an upgrade from sessions and he can probably start the whole year. but why do this now when they signed sessions and baker?

could be an old report mixed with a new one. Maybe they contacted Jack but decided on Sessions.... Goodwin is just the obvious look since he's still so young and Horny coached him

It is when you consider the age of the players at the time of the injuries. Jack wasn't an above the rim guy to begin with, but I wouldn't count him as more than a fifth guard, at best.

I like the idea of adding Archie Goodwin - definitely fits the profile. I think Goodwin and Beasley would make for a pretty exciting second unit. He's not really a PG though and I think we need that. Truthfully I hope we can get both

He'll be 34 this season. Has had major knee problems in the past. Doesn't play any kind of defense. His 3 point shot is not elite. He actually has horrible shot selection. He would likely generate no future trade value at the deadline. He's like Antwan Jamison (but not that talented) a somewhat useful player on a bad team only. Sort of.
He's popular with the other players. So they take some of his shot jacking in stride.
The Ish Smith type is more of what the Knicks need, a little less "brand name" but generally more effective.
Signing Jack is just burning minutes. Those minute have developmental value if the Knicks use them right.
Goodwin can defend. He will never be able to actually shoot the ball though. Goodwin is younger, can defend and has history with Hornacek. Also long range shooting can be developed over time ( not easy, but possible) Goodwin is the better choice here. Goodwin could create some light trade value down the road. Not likely, but not impossible like Jack.

Thats the word that comes to mind. Would rather the Knicks see what they have have first. Knicks can always make a trade down the road. Maybe Hornacek is going to go with some guard heavy lineups, IDK.
