ESPNs rankings rated Melo, hooded or otherwise, well below where he's ranked career wise.

Melo Love: "ESPN hates us"
reality: It is what it is.
Totally agree, shooting 25 points while taking 26 shots is not a big deal, now it is time for more dimensional players
Given age, dwindling shooting percentages, and minimal defense, sounds like Phil had a point.
If he plays hard and smart on both ends and is healthy, yes, he can be top 64. Otherwise it's too high.
Dennis Smith is the second highest ranked rookie at 75.
Stats & Info: In the NBA's annual rookie survey, Dennis Smith Jr. was selected by his peers as most likely to win rookie of the year honors. The Mavericks may have struck gold with the No. 9 overall pick as the two most similar prospects over the past 15 years, according to ESPN Analytics draft model, are John Wall and Derrick Rose.

he is better than Eric Gordon, he is probably a little low but if you factor in his salary a lot of the players ranked higher that he is better than I would rather have

i don't know if he is top 30 but he is a lot better than 64
This is stupid.."Lonzo ball, Danny green, brook lopez better than melo...give me a got damn break...
On this NY team Melo has little value...put him on the right team ...he is vinny "the microwave" Johnson

That Microwave has come and gone for Melo. Even on the right team, he is a defensive liability and no longer goes to the Hole. The jumper is sporadic, particularly in the 4th.

It's okay. Nobody's seen hoodieMelo play in games that count. One slot better than a rookie who has a possible shot at being a bust.
Maybe this provides some additional motivation.

Problem is, he's not interested.

Yea I'm not the biggest fan of melo, but 64! Hahaha that's pure Espn hate, Espn has lost all credibility, I'm surprised they are still around and haven't sold/changed names. There shows and input are completely bogus and bs... their so bad the best thing they have going is a Stephen A rant and that's pathetic as well . I'd rather watch yes or msg network, ranking Lonzo in front of melo shows there stupidity, the guy hasn't even stepped on a NBA court. Melo is a 10 time all star!

Typical agenda to drive down NY player value only to later laugh when they get scalped in a trade. These hatchet jobs and fake trades from "sources" to feel out public interest are growing old.

Jumper is not sporadic....that is the best thing he has right now...and do you really think a team would bring him in for defense....please
This ranking is idiotic.....
Melo is still a tier 1 or 2 scorer and he can still get his shot off...players at 64 cannot have the potential to score 30 points on any given night....Melo can
Yes indeed. Melo can score 30 on any given night. Problem is however it may take 30 shots to do it at a 40% clip. Therein lies the issue and that's why he's ranked 64. It's clear that Phil didn't knock down Melo's value,
Father Time did. He will be what? 34? He is solely a jump shooter at this point. Still holds the ball considerably too long and stymies an offense. He shoots 43% from 2 and 36% from three. It's sporadic and sinking.

Post like these is why I don't mess with this site as much...do your homework before you comment
As for the ranking, it is total disrespect.....S.Adams is 46. Anyway, this seems to only take into account potential projection for the upcoming season.
For the first time ESPN is being generous. What would happen if Ryan Anderson took 20 shots. He shoots threes at a 40% clip so if all his shots were threes he would average 24 points per game. My point being if you shoot enough your going to get points. Melo is an average player given a green light.
