Knicks · Melo expands destination ...Cavs (and OKC) (page 1)

dwiley20 @ 9/22/2017 9:33 PM
Love and Brooklyns 1st and you can have Melo
GustavBahler @ 9/22/2017 9:39 PM
Melo wants a ring more than that big contract extension. This might speed things up...

dwiley20 @ 9/22/2017 9:48 PM
hopefully
CrushAlot @ 9/22/2017 10:22 PM
Wow. Two more teams. I wonder who the mystery team is. Blazers, OKC, Washington, Lakers...

I think its Rockets, Cavs, and Blazers.

CrushAlot @ 9/22/2017 10:33 PM
It's OKC.

Ive never seen something drag out so long with so many false finishes. Hopefully now that we are nearing training camp the expanded list finally closes the deal

That wouldn't be bad and is probably better than what the Cavs have to offer.

Melo doesn't make sense for the Cavs. ( Well LeGM is an idiot, so anything is possible)

DeAndre Jordan and Patrick Beverley to the Cavs makes a ton of sense though. They need more defense and they need a rim protecting pivot who can overpower anyone the Warriors have at center.

The Cavs would want to dump Tristan Thompson, but he's a massively overpaid energy guy who can't defend the rim and can't space the floor. No one really wants him.

OKC would need to be part of this only as a 3rd or 4th team in a larger trade.

Ideally, any team would want to gut teams in their own conference and send more talent to the other. I.E. The Cavs would want to make a deal to get stronger, while also getting an Eastern team to be weaker ( clearing their path) and making some Western teams stronger on the rare chance they can knock off the Warriors before the Finals.

Cavs have Euro Cedi Osman. He's good! I'd want him in any deal.

Lebron likes Melo as a friend n competitor not teammate.
The Cavs messed up big time letting go of PG Matthew Dellavedova, the Cavs would had went 7 full games in the FINALS vs GSW having Dellavedova irritating Curry n Klay instead of all the liabilities Kover n Deron offered.
Tristan Thompson is a superstar compared to all our roster of big-men.

Cavs I'd only accept Love, and that would be only if I could then move him on to another team immediately for assets. I don't see the Cavs agreeing to that however.

OKC, the only deal really is: Kanter ($17mil but could opt out after this season, so would be an expiring), Doug (expiring) and Terrance Ferguson. They can't trade a 1st until 2022, so I doubt you could get any pick other than a 2nd rounder or two. I would do this deal mainly for Ferguson- he might not amount to much but it's worth the risk. I suppose there is an outside chance OKC may not be too comfortable with the money they committed to Steven Adams, and might trade him for Melo. I like him a lot and he'd really help with our defense, but thats a lot of money, plus we also are stuck with Noah.

Yep, me too. Messes up the front court for this season, but I would hope Kanter opts out at the end of the year

smackeddog @ 9/23/2017 3:22 AM
Blazers can still make the best offer- have to hope they are on Melo's list too.
Paris907 @ 9/23/2017 5:39 AM
Love is from Oregon and would have no issue playing for Portland. Package Lee as well if feasible and it’s Melo and Lee for Love, and Shumpert ans their pick . Love them to Portland with OQuinn for Harkless, Caleb Shannigan and a First or 2nd.
EnySpree @ 9/23/2017 6:10 AM
This is a fiasco.... why 2 days before media day? This could have been taken care of months ago.

I got a feeling the Knicks have several deals on the table and will try to sorry that out before Monday. We need all hands on deck for training camp.
