Not a great deal for us. But at least the Melo curse is over.

agreed, I would have insisted on Terrance Ferguson.

ASSETS? I mean I don't know how else to assess this deal other than the Knicks getting something of value even if it's not addressing any particular need. I guess it had to end somehow. I Wonder what Pick they got.

AWFUL.

Wow.

One day this franchise will make a solid trade. That's absolute garbage. Langer is terrible and Doug as an 8th man on the bench.

Panic move.

The New York Knicks have reached agreement on a trade to send All-Star forward Carmelo Anthony to the Oklahoma City Thunder, league sources told The Vertical.

The Thunder will send center Enes Kanter, forward Doug McDermott and a 2018 second-round draft pick from the Chicago Bulls to the Knicks, league sources told The Vertical. A trade call is planned for Monday, with Anthony expected to waive his no-trade clause, league sources said.

Wait a minute. I just looked at Kanter's advanced stats and they are pretty amazing for a 24 year old.
WS48 of .222, .226, and .183 the last three years. That's excellent!

He is a VERY good but expensive big man off the bench. May get traded again cause of contract and big man surplus on Knicks.

Amare-like defensive capabilities.

True. But I think that he is an asset for the team and will have trade value.

Glad its over. I didnt expect to get much because of his age, contract, and flaws but at least we can finally move on with the young guys

Perry on the blog yesterday: "But let’s say there’s a player we’ve identified from the beginning, and he comes our way earlier than expected. And let’s say that his presence will help us develop our young players even more. That might be the moment to act."

Is Kanter that guy?

Yeah he's got skills even if he's not the defensive guy you'd like. Kanter is not a scrub so there's plenty to work with.
Once you get past the shock of it, this isn't the worst you could do.

In terms of efficiency we've upgraded as both Kanter and McDermott have higher TS% than Melo.

Doubt it. But he does have value and I think he can be flipped fairly easily. Couldn't say the same thing about Ryan Andersen, although I like Andersen more as a player.

Kanter can play and. I liked Dougie buckets coming out of college but they both are defensively challenged. I would have at least demanded Grant as 3&D small forward prospect. Kanter probably becomes our best center as I would rate higher than Willy. He just needs to bring more defense.
