Knicks · Feel like the Knicks are in prime position to trade later in the season (page 1)

A lot needs to fall into place but Knicks got lots of extra pieces that playoff teams usually need for last push.

Lots of playoff teams with only 1 prime big man: OKC (Steve Adams), Boston (Al Horford), Houston (Capella). Injury happens to any of those guys for more than a couple week and hello KOQ.

Need a PG? If Sessions or Jack both make the team and show even an iota of competence, these are the guys playoff teams would want for the stretch run if something happens to their PG spot. Charlotte seems crazy thin behind Walker (MCK?), CLE (if IT takes months and Rose falters...), OKC (Ray Felton gets fat again and pulls a muscle for a couple of weeks Thunder thin at backup PG), WAS (backups on team are thin), TOR (Kyle misses a few weeks who takes over?).

Scoring, or multi-position vet to come off bench on a decent contract: Beas, LT, KOQ, (maybe) Lee?

NYKBocker @ 9/25/2017 10:48 AM
I think another trade is coming really soon. Just gotta figure out which team can absorb contracts for picks that has needs for a big man or CLee.
EnySpree @ 9/25/2017 10:48 AM
Yes... The Knicks can be opportunistic. We are right in the mix. Our team is taking shape right in front of us.

I dunno if it's that aimple... without thinking of trades THJr with Lee off the bench is very very good. Can't get any better actually. Same could be said at every other position. We do have guys that could be ready to contribute soon. The tone should be opportunistic not desperation

Need to see if Dotson can play...if he shows he can be competitive by the time of the trade deadline, and Lee is healthy and playing like he usually does, I could see Lee being traded.

Much will be determined by how Frank, Dotson, Willy, and other younger players perform.

If all of our vets are healthy and playing up to par, we have a lot of guys who can be pieces for playoff-bound teams. KOQ, Lee, Sessions, Jack, Lance, even Noah if he is completely healthy, should have some value to a playoff contender. If Willy really emerges, Kanter might also be worth something to another team, I just don't know how the Knicks' brass feel about him as a future piece.

Seems to me that if things work out the right way (Of course this rarely happens with the Knicks), we should have a number of players/assets who can bring us back some value.

i think taking a chance on these vets was probably the best thing we could have done this year. giving guys like beasely, sessions and jack a bunch of playing time and getting their value pumped up could be a boon for us. and even better for us, what 2 better guys for FrankN to learn from, both have been in the league forever. i could definitely envision us getting back draft picks/young players for these guys if title contenders are looking for some good veteran minutes. i really like the job that perry has done so far.

Before u start mentioning names .. first look at last season players that showed to be a liability on the court each night .. KP, Kuz, Baker, and McDermott for the Bulls were all big liabilities on the court ..plus coach Horn's offense/defense plan SUCKED!
Kemet @ 9/25/2017 4:07 PM
The only Knick players teams will be interested in are the proven experience players with high trade worth like a healthy Noah, healthy Jack, KOQ, WHG, and Lee .. the rest of the Knicks roster are unproven players having a very low trade worth value, especially the so-call future star KP .. no team called Phil Jackson when Phil mention KP were on the trading block.
GustavBahler @ 9/25/2017 4:14 PM
Some of the new additions might make a strong case for staying on, while others might make a case for being sent packing. Glad that there will be some healthy competition for PT this season. Vets, rooks, know that nothing is guaranteed.

Absolutely false.

Absolutely false.

Not only false but just about every team called.

Think they will look to trade KO, LT and a couple more. Kanter was worth a shot at getting player that may turn things around. IF not, its a trade chip that will also be used. We definately need, what everyone thought we would replace Melo with, an athletic 2 way SF.

BRIGGS @ 9/25/2017 6:50 PM
Id rather focus on what the guys can do to help us win rather than focusing on trading them. I do think we should look to skim the roster a bit at the 3--but after that-let guys earn PT and hopefully depth and size help us surprise

Please show me one article of any team calling for KP .. we all were looking to post-up teams that were interested in KP the 3 weeks before PJ were fired. None was posted up.
Kanter were not a 30 minute player in OKC, plus Kanter are unproven going up against opponents big men in the Eastern conference, Teams like the Raptors, Celtricks, 76ers, Wizards, Bucks, Cavs, Heats, Hornets, Pistons has offense/defense big-men that Kanter will have to be prepared for in the upcoming season.

If you google it there are plenty more articles. Can you post something to back up your claim that McDyess refused to play for the Knicks when they traded Camby and Nene for him?

THese guys have quietly been on the trading block all summer long, it's just that melo took up the headlines....

The problem is, if they play well, then your going to be reluctant to trade them, if they play bad or get injured, then you won't receive anything of value in return

Wow, so you were in Phil's office with him when he put KP on the trade block?? Impressive, tell us more??
