You don't accept that he has a lot of small injuries and several physical issues?

Lebron rolled his ankle in practice today. Maybe he has a chronic injury? I feel like this is the thought process when players get dinged up today.

Your over simplifying that. The fact is Porzingis has missed substantial tome over the course of two seasons. Maybe not a concern, but something that needs to be monitered.

I really don't want to do it, but maybe we should cash-in on him as long as his value is so high as it is at the moment.

KP is definitely an egg but we have many more eggs... so we may get some good chickens out of it.

How many 7-3 guys stay healthy?

The smart way to handle it is to preemptively manage his minutes the way the Spurs did for Duncan for many many years. Keep him in the 24-28 minute range and let him sit 1/10 games. We certainly have enough bigs to rotate and give minutes.

Im pretty sure I read Tim Duncan from 27-38 until he retired avg a tad less than 30 minutes a game. That was 11-12 years. Tim Duncan is way more solid than KP.

Shawn Bradley averaged 70 games a year over a 12 year career

Something tells me the Knicks are likely monitoring it.

Obviously as they should. So far into his young career, his leg injuries are my only concern with him, well that and his attitude seems it can go either way at this point, to me anyway.

My concern is that it is the same knee that he hurt over the summer. Obviously we have to wait until there is more information but it was just a month ago that he had to rest the same knee because he hurt it (banged it).

where are you hoping this discussion goes?

Papabear Says

The discussion is if you think he is the chosen one to build around you are in a dream world. Like always we seem to pick the wrong ones. I hope he is ok but if we build around him we are doomed. We can make him a true priority to help put the team in a great place. Just understand if you build around him it can be a big problem if he goes down. You can make excuses if you want to but I see things and so do you about his durability.

Come on! How many years have Lebron played getting hit kicked and stepped on? What about Posingis? How many years has he played and already knee trouble.

Shawn Bradley was no Future superstar and they built no team around him. In the end he was an ok basketball player but in someway a disappointment.

No there is again news about Porzingis being injured http://bleacherreport.com/articles/27026...

I'm really concerned about his health, and that he is too injury prone to reach his full potential.

What do you guys think, and do you guys know if it is bad?

Why I wanted to trade him guys his size don't stay healthy

franco12 @ 9/29/2017 7:32 AM
whether you are worried about him and his knee, the reality is our medical staff sucks. we may share team doctors & trainers with the mets.

to me, the question is whether he can bulk up and outgrow the nicks and dings that have afflicted him through his first 2+ seasons.

I was going to start a provocative thread about what Porzingis needed to do this year in terms of accomplishments to avoid being considered a bust.

I know he sat a lot the last two years with dings and because we were tanking.

But he's really got to be there healthy for 70 games this year. Any less, and it should be a real concern, and something the FO should consider finding a trade with a GM that wants to roll the dice on KP not being made of Bargnani glass.

And let me just addd- how was 7 games over the summer a 'long summer'. What the heck happens if we make the play offs:

he injury comes after a long summer for the 22-year-old Porzingis. He played in seven games for the Latvian national team during the European championships this month, so Hornacek and the Knicks have tried to keep his workload light so far, just as they have done for Willy Hernangomez, who played for Spain in the same tournament.

He was also taller than 7'3 and pretty durable. You missed that point totally.

yea? Who did you want in that draft? Do tell me your better than drafting KP draft strategy.

Also this notion about building around ONE player is your agenda, and not reality. KP is arguably the highest ceiling and most skilled but nobody but guys like you have said we are building around KP. The front office has gone out of their way to say they are building a young CORE and have mentioned KP, Willy, Hardaway, Frank and Baker all specifically by name.

So whatever your agenda is with KP its yours... not anyone elses. Most see what they are trying to accomplish is quite simple. Build and acquire as much young talent as possible.
Kanter, McDermott, Frank, Dotson, THjr are 25 and under. Beasley is a shot at lightning in a bottle for like zero cost and Jack/Sessions were brought as veteran PGs and straight up to mentor Frank.

But yea man... go on with your KP agenda, thats always fun. You a big Embiid fan? Or is some "its not fair that everyone loves KP and not enough people loved Melo" dreamworld stuff?

This is the first year in decades we have taken the right approach to the offseason

KP never had major injurie, all his so called ''injuries'' is just a precaution, most of the games he missed in previous seasons was precaution, if it was about playoffs he would play 100%

no torn ACLs, no microfracture surgeries.. he's really tall, long, wirey and athletic. He's going to need to find the right pace to play. He still struggles with speed. We have seen him range from too cautious to totally spastic. I think this will be the biggest part of his maturity. Dirk didnt always look smooth...

IM A LITTLE CONCERN, cause your right, sometimes he looks to under control, and there are times I have to close my eyes after a reckless dunk and him falling flat, or when he falls for a pump fake, and topples over someone

quit sounding like a PTA mom. They are pro athletes. Let them play. Injuries happen. Thats why you have depth. We have a lot of big guys.

Some of your revel in your basking in the light of being the one to deliver a prophecy of negativity.
Studies show that being this way you see yourself as a "Wise Sage" while seeing optimistic as being foolish.
To think that we should trade him as if other teams don't know this durability question is remarkable.
Also, the gullibility of knowing the press is frequently negative yet you take in all of it and then regurgitate it as if your in insider is also
noteworthy.

As a fan most of us are:

1. Reading the same stuff as you
2. worried about any cornerstone players durabilty.
3. worried about the cornerstone players potential fragility.
4. love to say "Told you so"....both good and bad.

Whats annoying is some of you come off as being happier to have "Told you so" than actually seeing the team succeed.
THink about it knicks1248, if the knicks are good, make the playoffs, you will suck. Now, is this problable, not really. But im not here to incessantly make shyt up and paint it negative to enjoy the process of being proven right. Im here to discuss basketball. The truth is told on the court, not by you.

So yeah, the kid's knee is sore. Lets trade him. Logical.

Oh, there are no sure things in sports. Parker on Bucks has had two ACL. Then they get the Freak lower in the draft. Things happen.
Yes, Im worried, but in not reading 4 articles and freaking out about his sore knee.

technomaster @ 9/29/2017 10:49 AM
KP hasn't had any injury that has required surgical repair, so that's been great news. But ligament/tendon issues are no joke and can be debilitating.

I'm hardly an NBA-level athlete, but I had Achilles tendonitis and and peroneal tendonis (in the old days of the NBA: sore heels/feet) starting back in May from running (and taking a ninja warrior class too seriously at Brooklyn Zoo), and 4 months later Was in a soft cast for 3 weeks. I'm still rehabbing. I'm back to 90%+, but I'm extremely cautious about doing any athletic activity full bore to avoid re-injury. As recently as a month and a half ago I was still experiencing some discomfort standing on my toes or doing jump shots.

Achilles/heel injuries sap your ability to change direction quickly or jump... (basically anything where you need to push off and explode). I've found that in comparison knee pain is easier to deal with (but then again, I've never had to deal with any major knee issues
