Knicks · Thoughts on Live Scrimmage - Frank arrives (page 1)

Just finished watching the live scrimmage game. Frank looks great. Plays under control. Moves the ball. Has the skill to drive and finish when he sees an opening. Makes a concerted effort to get the ball into the post. Kid would have had 10 ast if guys would have made the open looks he setup. His defense was solid but he still is adjusting to the quickness and strength of nba players. The kid definitely should start.

I love Frank but that scrimmmage was run at 60% speed with little effort and was basically ASS.

Frank looked fine but very little to take away from the scrimmage where nobody is defending and everybody is basically sleep walking thru the 11AM start time.

The game itself was not at 60%. I will give you that they played about 85-90% normal intensity. Of all the PGs, Frank looked the best. We will see Tuesday when they play the Nets where frank is at but I think he is going to start.

JESUS! It was clear as day that Nitty looked pretty damned good for a NINETEEN year old. Of course this isn't a real game. But we're looking for evidence of the kid being able to think the game and he clearly showed he understood what he needed to do. It's just the beginning of the process of development for this kid but he looked ahead of schedule to me.

That's what most people on Reddit and realm forums are saying. I haven't had chance to watch it yet, but I was pleased to read the buzz! Personally, I'm not looking at Frank to be impressive in a flashy sense (like Dennis Smith Jr, John Wall, etc), but ultimately I'd like him to be a billups type

He looks good. It is definitely worth checking out the scrimmage. Smith was so impressive in the summer league it was nice to see Frank on the court finally. Frank looks like he could be a really good player and he is so young. I can't wait for Tuesday.

I'm looking at Nitty as a kid that is of course only 19 and given that he looked VERY GOOD. He stood out, which was noteworthy in a situation like that. He was making plays for others but also scoring for himself. No hesitation was evident. Remember how lost other young PG's we've had looked? Nitty showed no signs of that at all.

Yes it was only a scrimmage but they werent sleepwalking out there. I understand not wanting to overhype somebody but so far we have heard glowing reports about frankie since training camp started. We never got to see him in summer league and his stock dropped in the eyes of some people but its obvious this kid has skills on both sides of the ball.

He was an unknown and the guy taken after him looked really good in the summer league. I was glad to see him look so good today. The Knicks have had a lot of draft regrets, Weis/Artest, Balkman/Rondo... Glad that it doesn't appear that will be the case with FRank.

Yeah when you take into perspective that he's only 19 and already looked quite comfortable running the team while also looking for his own offense and defending. We haven't had a Drafted PG with this combo of talent in a long time. ☀️😎

I was there and the game was absolutely not 60%. Very competitive and anyone who plays the game knows there is no such thing as sleepwalking or playing just to play when going up against your peers. Frank did really impress and so did Jack. Id say starting PG is between them two. I presume Baker was injured and why he didnt play but actually. With Dotson, McDermott and all the Vet PGs hes kind of redundant.

Baker plays hard defense. That sets him apart. Baker and Frank would be a tenacious duo to deal with defensively.

He played like a veteran. Did he even make one mistake today?

Frankl is the truth! He made it look effortless too. I'll bet he's our starter. McBuckets sure can fill it up. THJ was clearly the thoroughbread. Noah had some bounce to him that he didn't last year. KP gets a pass, 7'3" never looks good in a scrappy open court scrimmage. Kuz proved that even in a team scrimmage nobody is gonna let him throw it down with that baby face. Enes looks like he can still score in the paint with ease.
TheGame @ 10/1/2017 11:20 PM
It felt good to watch the knicks play even if it was a scrimmage. It had been a long summer. Now that Insee Frank can play, I can relax.
WaltLongmire @ 10/1/2017 11:38 PM
Mentioned this in another thread.

I thought he floated a bit on D...was less physical than I've seen him before.

Was stunned by how smooth he looked offensively. Not selfish...gave the ball up...looked for assists...but took offensive opportunities when they were there. His shooting off the dribble is impressive...at some point he is going to be unstoppable with that shot.

Although he was usually playing the point, you can see how he would be a pretty effective SG...something he did a lot of in France.

Only an intrasquad scrimmage, but he looked impressive. Few rookie-type mistakes, if any. You can see he needs to get stronger, but no deer in the headlike stuff from him at all.

So far so good.

Clean @ 10/2/2017 2:59 AM
One thing I learned is to never take much out of these training camp videos. I remember in the past our players looking way better than they actually were due to playing against the Knicks terrible defense at the time. I will wait until we see him vs other teams to get a better sense. One thing I am really happy with is that he looks like he shoots a lot better than I expected.
